Should we be allowed to climb on buildings and run on roofs ?

In the spirit of freedom of movement (Elder Scrolls), and as in most games, why not allow players to jump on roofs and move up there ?

- In cities, where there are usually no mobs, it could be allowed as of now (albeit programming challenges I do not understand).
- In PvE areas, it would require tweaking mob behavior (nicknamed AI)
- In PvP, if it cannot be done now, it should be possible.

I am not saying it is a priority, but it would be one of the nice tweaks that would appease Elder Scrolls players, including making quests less linear.

[ nb: the Daggerfall PvE category was chosen because I could not choose otherwise.]

Yes, in due time, ESO should allow players to jump on buildings and roofs and move up there freely.

Clarification : I am not talking of any jumping power or climbing ability, but only of the fact that currently accessible roofs are "slippery" and throw you off. Just an eventual feature request let's say.

I forsee players finding a way to access restricted areas or abuse the power to travel to these areas that Zenimax hadn't planned for players to get to.

This is in relation to what we actually gain, which is very little in regards to useful content.

To be honest, I'd rather we be able to dive underwater before climbing on roofs.
Maybe they'll add both at the same time in the future?
Only if they don't have much else to do on a boring Saturday afternoon.

As someone who loves to explore everything... everywhere... I miss not being able to walk on roofs and such. I've been playing Elder Scroll games for over 20 years. ES games have always in the past let you go and explore pretty much everywhere you could manage to get to. I don't understand the change in the previous freedom to explore where you wish. :(

It would make a stealth/thief charactor a lot more insteresting. And they are adding the thieves guild and Dark Brotherhood soon, (hopefully).

It sounds awesome , but sounds like a nightmare to make it reality.

This would be pretty cool and I agree it would make my stealthy nightblade a lot cooler if he could jump around the rooftops doing parkour. :D

I don't think it would be a good idea, primarily because of the possibility of getting stuck and having to use slash-stuck to get out. Besides, I'm actually rather fond of the sliding roof. Ever jump onto the stable roof just in front of the wall outside of Daggerfall's forge? It's like... well, like a slide! And it can often help mitigate potential fall damage, which would actually also be helpful for sneaks, no?

What I think would benefit for stealthy, thieves guild-y or dark brotherhood-y types, would be adding lots of long planks, small secret passages and other ways of getting around without just taking the road. Hallin's Stand is a really good example of that, since there's lots of little shortcuts (presumably set up by the resistance) that you can take to get around the city quickly. That would allow for the best of both worlds.

Nightblades should be able to climb keep walls.
Or it could be a thief guild's skill, but it has to be in game!!!

If it could i'd make an imperial called "Senticleas"

"I am a nightblade. Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

I think there should be climbing in this game. It's such a good game, they should go all the way. You should be able to buy ropes and grappling hooks and go up those impassable mountains and such. There should also be ladders in pvp to scale walls. These devs could make it happen for sure.
The only substitute for victory is overkill.

this is what saddened me so far, i always enjoyed "humping" up mountains, running across roofs to escape guards (which you dont even need to worry about, why even have them?) and all sorts of things Zeni decided to keep out of the game, why? =[ Also, i always enjoyed in DAoC how Infiltrators could climb keep walls to gain access...wish it could be done here

I'd be ok with it in towns and such where there is no combat but not anywhere else because it's too cheap to sit on a roof with a bow with unlimited ammo and pick off mobs
I don't always drink Skooma, but when I do I go to the Southwall Corner Club. May you walk on warm sands my friends.
