Xbox One Voice / Guild Chat issues since Blackwood

Is anyone else having issues with Xbox game chat since Blackwood update?

I'm noticing that if I try to enter a guild chat, it's now sometimes saying there are 0 participants even when I know at least I'm in there. Or if I try to leave and re-enter the chat it's been getting messed up where I can't re-enter.

I tried /reloadui and that didn't fix it up. I tried creating an Xbox party, switching the setting in there to make sure it's using game chat, and closing the party but that didn't work. It seems like I have to exit the entire game and possibly reboot the Xbox in order to get a temporary remedy. It was glitching out for several of our guild members yesterday when switching in/out to do dungeons/etc that we ended up needing to use an Xbox party in order to hang out.

I don't see any forum posts about this right now so I'm not sure if others have been having this issue since Blackwood update 30 came out?

Mine keeps putting in to area and group chat at log on really annoying as I don't want to use voice chat at all, this then reduces my ingame sound, I can't seem to find how to disable voice chat without disabling text chat.

Yes same issue. Also had these hilarious bugs:

When switching characters I can hear guild chat from the character select menu.

People in Cyrodiil are reporting that area voice chat is currently cross faction and super salty.

Both on Xbox NA.

How does a patch affect voice chat?

Says my voice chat is unavailable. Is there some reason why ive had this happen three times in three days? Patch day i got to sit in silence for four hours....then left....came back....voice chat unavailable for like two hours. Game is unplayable when you are in a social guild instead of just doing quests all day everyday.

Like, plenty of people are having this issue. Can someone explain to me why these kinds of things happen? Isnt voice chat a pretty standard thing that yall created when the game started or did it take some years to implement voice chat or something?

It's EVERYONE that's having this issue.

It doesn't work for anyone.

It's not a problem on anyone's end that a ticket will fix, chat is straight up broken in the game.

For some characters I have chat channels, but can't join. For others it just says chat is unavailable - been like it since patch.

Now on the Xbox series s upgrade, while in party chat, it's also speaking in game as well as party, in area chat. I'd argue that's a security issue at this point, as people may be discussing something on what they think is a private party chat, but is also filtering through to area chat.

The Majority of people have already reported this , it’s effecting everyone across all console platforms (PSN ,XBOX) been this way for weeks now , everyone you have Blocked previously can now message you , you can’t block new people or anyone at the moment for harassment, you randomly hear people voice chats even in other alliances , this needs to be fixed ASAP really especially for the harassment part as reporting harassment gets you nowhere with eso so it’s the only tool we have to stop it ourselves

As everyone else has said, voice chat is seriously FUBAR right now on Xbox.

None of the help options available work. Half the time I get the "voice chat is unavailable" issue, but the rest of the time the area option is there but I can't click it. Or it's "active" but no one is in there (when they actually are). Or I'm in group chat, but group chat isn't actually working and says no one is in it even though there's people in my group. Or I'm in one of these dead chats and can't leave. Or I'm in a group but there's no group option. Or I'm solo and there's a group option but no area chat.

Sometimes it will miraculously work, then I'll change zones and it's broken again. This isn't just a me thing either, it's effecting every one of my friends, guildies, people I talk to in Cyrodiil, everyone.

Games broke y'all. The foundation is crumbling to the point that even basic levels of functionality are no longer working.

I had a chance to hear Gina mention in the ESO Live stream that consoles are due for another incremental patch soon with one of the things to be addressed is ‘some voice chat issues that people have been calling out’ is I think how it was worded.

So I hope that means they’re on top of it.

I was in a stream the other day that Gilliam was hanging out in and I mentioned it to him. He said he'd pass it on to the correct team

I do hope there'll be a fix for this soon. Can second the above posts too; I still get put into voice chat automatically, except now as posted above, it claims to have zero participants (not even myself), and yet one still hears them.
It's a reason to log in and play much less; it's frustrating to deal with each time on each character, and a serious privacy issue to that.

So, I guess voice chat issues were not resolved today? Or am I missing something? Upon loading in, get inundated with 10 people blaring through the tv. Rather annoying.

I rejoined eso and I play mostly to socialise. I was gutted that I couldn’t get guild voice chat to work! Come across this thread and obviously it’s a little dated, has anything been resolved? Or do I have to just go without the social part of a social game?!

It’s better than it was before fixes but acts a lot stranger than the past. Sometimes group chat is missing completely from the list unless you enter and leave area chat first which seems like a bug. Joining a group doesn’t automatically put you in group chat anymore (which I kinda like). Guild chat might say 0 participants even though there are people in there.

There is a cool side effect where I can still hear guild chat while in the character select menu switching toons.

I’ve had guild chat voices other than my own appearing in my game clips where it never did before. (When my game clips actually decide to work that is, but that’s a different issue I’m having).

As of today this is still an issue on Xbox NA, at least.
This may seem a minor consideration, a nuisance at most, but this is a deeply social game, and we are still in the midst of social distancing and limiting contact IRL. Most of the players I know, which number in the hundreds, are here socially. Having the basis for guild-wide communication and hangout time broken is bleeding the life out of guilds across the board. If we are here to play together but are limited to dividing up into parties in order to talk, guild participation and cohesion suffers. The longer this persists, the more people who leave the game. The core of most guilds relies on building friendships and playing together.

If you take "social" out of a social game, you lose players, which loses money.

I would caution that this is bleeding away much of the energy and activity which sustain the game as a whole, and will only undermine the work being done to expand the game on the content end.

Help us help you.

Please fix chat so we can all get back to hanging out and loving our guild family groups, and playing to get away from real-life, with the people we enjoy. And to welcoming new players to make them feel at home with a lively voice chat.
