Siege

Is it just me or has the dmg of siege gone up an absurd amount? Ive been hit for stone trebuchets for 20k this patch. oils are on my recap for almost the same amount. meatbag catapults deal close to 7k dmg a tic. Coldfire ballistas can come close to 1 shotting (and no my character isn't a vampire). If it's due to changed in cp and mitigation, siege needs to be tuned down a notch and a half. When my recaps are nothing but siege dmg from players at the top of a keep, that isn't pvp. I'm not fighting any players at all.

I agree it’s gotten out of hand and then when the seige telegraph circles don’t even animate half the time it makes it hard to fight against 20k invisible damage.

Funny part is some people want it buffed so they can 1 shot groups instead of learning game mechanics.

It's probably gone a bit far but I mostly like it, Cyrodiil is supposed to be about capturing and defending keeps and siege is a big part of that. People need to learn to be a bit more tactical- actually use Siege Shield and stop trying to front door everything.

If you got hit for 20k I'm guessing it was a Cold Stone trebuchet not a regular one. Theyve always hit really hard compared to other siege, they just don't do damage over time like fire ballistas etc. I've gotten a few kills with Cold Stone recently, people don't bother moving out of it or healing all the way back up after the first hit. If they're squishy and I hit them a second time at 75% or less health I'll get a kill.

Oil, you need to take it out a lot of the time now instead of just charging in but people are too lazy or don't know how to do that.

It's good to die with siege.
Siege that cannot kill enemies are useless.

Siege Damage hasn't changed at all, you just don't get protected by all that passive CPs anymore. Thats also the reason why NPCs suddenly feel stronger. And no, I think sieges are fine, you can block them and dodge their DoT for some reason, which makes absolutely no sense, or purge them. Only the Lanciers can be a bit harsh, especially on close range.

Of course they should. If a sixteen tonne rock drops on your head, you die. Don't care if you're Gandalf.

its not a matter of realism this is a mmo. its a balanced issue. in real life a heavy attack from a 2h greatsword would literally cave your skull in and kill you instantly, so don't use realism as an argument.

The outer of most keeps can be sieged from a "safe" place where defending siege cannot hit, (hint its not the front door) so its a positioning thing.

Inner keep defenses can also be minimised by smart placement of siege, again not the front door.

If you want to brute force the keep be sure to have a forward camp and expect a few to die.

Longing for the good old days when keeps were sieged 50/50 inner and outer at the same time, the kids of today just want to go thru doors.

This. Powerful sieges mean more tactical thinking. It's not like sieges are AK-47 you can carry with you, it requires placement, it rotates lowly, it has travel time and long reload time. Instead of charging like an idiot, wait for the shot and rush in after. If the fire is to heavy you'll need a healer and siege shield, sorry but this is how it should be. Well placed siege should matter.

    Siege lives matters!

Coming from tabletop gaming I've no issues with the damage dealt by siege waapons, I think it's rather cool but I understand those who prefer more player versus player.

I've seen most players easily out heal siege damage with no problems, even cold fire and cold stone. Needs buffing in respect of the more it hits the more damage it does (Like proxy det).

Pure PvP are BGs, the same amount of players (when group finder works as it should), similar skill level, same goals.

Cyrodiil is about being the most cunning, about using all you can to win (ofc in bounds of TOS), so if you can shoot off someone's face with few meters long arrow, then why not?
