Player homes become character homes.

Took some time off (~3 years) from the game due to work and other commitments, just came back and was thinking.. what if our player homes were character based?
If you, like me, enjoy decorating the houses as a little RP thing..

Right now I have 3 houses that I actually use.
1. My main house - Mistveil Manor.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpuVhs7ABFs

This house has something in it for every one of my characters.
- Thiefs alcove in the barn for my khajiit thief
- Dwemer research area for the High elf dwemer researcher
- Bounty hunting boards for the orc mercenary
- alter for the werewolf bosmer
- undead camp (unused training dummies) for the argonian necromancer
- Library for the breton healer
- Large garden for the argonian healer
- General housing for the main who owns it.

2. Alinor Townhouse which follows the same theme, a large house lived in by many, though since I left just before Murkmire, is only a pts thing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUjPJnvbwsk

3. my little prison cell in Deshaan.

[

So what if, we could assign a EDIT: Different primary house to each of our characters as our player homes whilst on that character, instead of having to change player homes each time?

I already have character homes. These are their individual homes and where I always log them off. I also named them with the character's names.

My Wood Elf Necromancer owns Serenity Falls Estate which is decorated as a country home with mostly Khajiit and Orc furnishings. The top level of the barn is now a guest home, but was previously where my Orc lived before she purchased her own home.

My Orc Nightblade owns Ravenhurst which she decorated in a basic simple style with mostly Orc furnishings.

My High Elf Sorcerer Vampire owns Proudspire Manor which is decorated with mostly Alinor and Vampire furnishings. She is a lover of art and the finer things in life and that is reflected in her decorations.

I turned the Antiquarian's house into a guest lodge. All my characters play their part in running the lodge and its upkeep.

I also purchased Sleek Creek House that all my characters use for easy access to Rawl'kha to conduct their town business. They occasionally spend the day there, and very rarely spend the night.

Since I use 2 of my homes for all of my characters, locking them down to just one wouldn't work.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you are proposing. Is your intent to have a single dwelling that when you are on your thief it has a thief decorating scheme, orcish decorations for your orc, etc? If so I think EHT can do some of that for you with its save and restore abilities. I don't use EHT but there are plenty here who do and maybe they will chime in on whether this is possible or not.

I thought I understood what you are asking, but now I don't think I do. When you say you don't want to "have to change them each time you log in to them" what are you referring to?

Change what? The house? The decorations?

Are you wanting different versions of the same house, or are you talking about separate houses?

    I am really confused.

Never once did I mention furnishings.. or different versions of the same house.
So what if, we could assign a house to each of our characters as our player homes whilst on that character, instead of having to change player homes each time?

I don't know how I could make it any clearer.

Right now, you can decorate as many houses as you want. BUT you can only assign one house as the player house. I would like the option to assign a different house as the primary for each character. The Nord gets Mistveil, The Altmer gets Alinor, the bosmer gets grahtwood, etc. Right now if you want to change the primary to match your active toon, you need to change which house is the primary when you change toons. I'd like a set and forget option. An expansion on the existing system. If you guildmates visit your primary house, it will be different depending on which toon you log in on.

So what you want is each character to be able to set a different house as their primary house.

That clarifies it. If you had used the word primary it would have been much more clear. I agree it would be a nice feature. I could see it particularly useful for people who role play multiple characters as it would be in keeping with the character.

Edit: Accidentally deleted this: And would allow different RP groups to visit without gyrations of changing your primary residence.

The idea of a primary house is that people can visit while you are offline (with addons you can access any house at any time with permission).

You also don't need to set your primary each time you log in as people can visit your other houses as long as you are online.

The idea of a primary house is that people can visit while you are offline (with addons you can access any house at any time with permission).

You also don't need to set your primary each time you log in as people can visit your other houses as long as you are online.

BUT You need to be in that other house at that time for them to be able to visit it.
