Is it worth upgrading jewelry

Freefalling17
Is it worth upgrading blue jewelry to purple or even gold? I'm planning on upgrading it for vet dungeons and vet trials and stuff.

I would say no, especially purple and gold. It just costs way too much.

Some questions you might want to ask yourself:
    1. The set. Is it a set that you can acquire purple on?
    2. Is their an alternative set you can use that will give you a similar result that drops purple fairly easily.
    3. What is the set you plan on having after this one and how long do you expect it to take you to get it?
    4. Do you have the mats/how wealthy are you?
    5. Do you need it upgraded in order to be competitive enough to do vet content?

If you are running with Arcane/Healthy/Robust traits, the improvement you get from upgrading tends to be fairly minor.

    Things to look at.

    1) If you are running other traits (infused, bloodthirsty) the improvement you get from blue -> purple -> gold is much more significant
    2) The 5th "special" set bonus that is upgraded. For some sets, the 5th bonus doesn't change as you upgrade, for others it does, so that'd be something to consider if you want to upgrade.

Purple jewelry is adequate enough for all content outside of score pushing min-max type builds, maybe trifecta seeking groups.

If you're doing normal trials, vet dungeons, anything outside of "end end-game" content, blue jewelry (with appropriate enchantment upgrades) are perfectly viable.

Tenacious Dreamer - Hurricane Herald - Godslayer - Dawnbringer - Gryphon Heart - Tick Tock Tormenter - Immortal Redeemer - Dro-m'Athra Destroyer
The Unchained - Oathsworn - Bedlam's Disciple - Temporal Tempest - Curator's Champion - Fist of Tava - Invader's Bane - Land, Air, and Sea Supremacy - Zero Regrets - Battlespire's Best - Bastion Breaker - Ardent Bibliophile - Subterranean Smasher - Bane of Thorns - True Genius - In Defiance of Death - No Rest for the Wicked - Nature's Wrath - Undying Endurance - Relentless Raider - Depths Defier - Apex Predator - Pure Lunacy - Mountain God - Leave No Bone Unbroken - CoS/RoM/BF/FH Challenger

Purple false god's w/ Bloodthirsty is perfectly fine.

If you are looking to upgrade to Perfected False God's (by clearing vSS HM) it ONLY drops in gold quality, so you wouldn't have to worry about the upgrade cost (only transmute/reconstruction cost), and the purple jewelry will be more than adequate to clear the content.

Yeah, if it's just regular false god, I wouldn't worry about making it gold. Platings cost way too much and aren't as easy to come by for stuff like that.

So long as you want to. In other words, you will hit a cap were you cant find other ways to improve, and you cant get beyond the harder content for perfected gear. Question is; Is it worth it to you for continual improvement? Or have you been lucky enough to be a carry into perfected gear trials via guild and friends.

Which 5 piece set are you partnering it to?
You might get better performance in the long run from always running your slayer sets on the body, and your non-slayer set on weaponry and jewelry.

    This has several benefits:

1/ It makes it easier to swap sets over to suit the content you're running.
Being able to switch your setup from solo to dungeon to trial optimised quickly and easily is useful.

2/ Some slayer sets are a pain to get jewelry of (EG: sioria).
This lets you avoid the issue if you ever want to run those sets.

3/ Some good non-slayer sets drop in heavy instead of DPS bases armour weights (EG: medusa).
These sets work best used on jewelry and weaponry instead of body.

4/ Non-slayer sets are often easier to acquire jewelry of in purple and gold.
Its often cheaper to gold out slayer body pieces and buy purple/gold jewelry than to do the reverse.

IMO, go for purple if you have a build you like but never gold because it's too expensive. You'll do fine with purple.

Should I sell my gold mats then?

If you care about your dps then yes. Certain sets have a bigger damage increase than others btw when you upgrade them
