Except for a few gank or glass cannon builds, you really can't go below 25-26k in the proc set meta (CP PvP), @Syiccal.

    30k+

You can't really do anything if you're dead. PvP as a corpse isn't fun.

Even in medium it's relatively easy to build for 25k+ resists without sacrificing much of anything else.

    30k+ where possible.

You get shredded really easily this patch where mag and stam both benefit from each other's debuff skills.

Minor debuff no longer unique to power of the light, and don't forget about Balorgh.

My stealth magblade has 19k, and my dark cloak magblade has 24k.

My stamDK in medium has, I think, something like 27k on the front and 31k on the back, going up to about 30k/34k when bloodspawn goes off. Unless I'm running Pariah as my wep/jewels, in which case it can top out at something ridiculous like 37k/41k.

Surprised to see such high "avg" numbers. Is everyone playing heavy armor + nord + armor pots? In no CP, on a light (5/1/1) build with a reinforced heavy chest + resolve buff I can get to ~18k physical resists. Where the hell is the rest coming from? xD 30k+ seems totally unachievable without ruining some other critical aspect of a build (dmg, sustain). Examples anyone?

@Dorkener you'll be hard pressed to find me running light armor on but maybe one build ATM.

With the current state of shields (being capped then halved) essentially unusable; ill go heavy on a mag character.

In no CP I dont see any reason to not run malacath if not a niche build - so Light Armor's crit bonus is wasted

The regen bonus isnt much higher than heavies constitution passive (iirc)

So Light really only has the penetration bonus going for it (and with RaT the snare reduction is also worthless)

So if im not a glass cannon, im not going in light in no CP

Well my numbers are from CP, the only noCP thing I do is BG's, and since I don't use procs or like fighting against them I've been avoiding them this update.

As for me, I don't use nord or heavy. My magblade is a breton in light armor that uses light, and my stamDK a wood elf in medium. No armor pots either.

Part of the reason my own resists on my DK are higher that they used to be is just survival. I don't like using heavy on stam characters because I prefer the speed and elusiveness of medium. I used to run medium with two offensive sets, but after this update it's more difficult, particularly when outnumbered, because of all the proc damage that gets thrown around, and even more so on a DK because I have no way to purge it. While it's true that I can usually heal through it, having to strain my resources more on vigor/cauterize/frag shield means more time recovering and less time pushing, and the longer you're being pressed onto your back foot the larger the advantage for the other guy(s) grows. So I finally just gave up and threw on a defensive set.

5 medium, defensive set on jewelry/weapon, 2 heavy with resolve, and maybe some reinforced on chest/leg/head if I was feeling extra thicc, would put me at around 25-26k on my front bar. I've been using bloodspawn more lately, which would put me at ~28k when it's procced. With a sword/shield on my backbar those numbers are about 28-31k, or 30-33k with bloodspawn. Using pariah takes those numbers all the way up to 35k front bar and 40k back bar (although I'd have to be basically dead already for it to go that high).

It's not too much of a tradeoff for damage either. I still push just north of 4500 weapon damage with 1600 recovery on that build, even higher if I have outside buffs like continuous attack going. It's not the magic 5k number, but given the prevalence of procs, snipe gankers behind every tree, and large zergs just over every horizon ready to run you down I'm fine sacrificing a bit for some more sturdiness.

Thanks for the replies! Especially that heavy+malacath vs light breakdown put some things in perspective. :)
