Newb question... Stealth?

This skill confuses me, so hoping someone will be nice enough to explain. NB pops up, gets in a few hits and disappears again, I pop a see-invis potion and reveal him, but a few seconds later he disappears while still in range of my active potion. Same result with Radiant Magelight, it is still active with a 12 meter radius, yet the NB can stealth up literally next to me. Do these potions and skills simply reveal a stealthed player once, then become useless after his 3 second timer expires, allowing him to re-stealth with impunity at that point? Also, does stealth also offer invulnerability? A NB with literally no health left can stealth up in the middle of my huge AOE, not die and get away? Or is this all just buggy stuff with the game?

Magelight takes the Nightblade out of Cloak and makes it so that he cant reenter it for i think ?3 seconds?.
I dont actually know how detect pots work.
And a Nightblade should get hit by aoes if hes is in them while in cloak, but its pretty easy to get out of aoes quickly either through shadow image or through just dodgeroll backwards and running out.
Also most big AoEs only do dmg like once every seconds or every 2 seconds, so if he gets out in between those dmg ticks hes not revealed.

So even though Magelight lasts for 5 seconds, a NB can re-stealth after 3 seconds even while in it's range? As for the Essence of Detection, it increases detection by 20 meters for 15.7 seconds, which you would assume would allow you to see any stealthed characters within 20 meters of you for 15.7 seconds, but that is not the case at all, 3 seconds later poof, the NB is gone again.

Just curious if the NB is stealthing up while your using detect pot or using shadow image. Shadow image lets him teleport back to where ever he dropped his shade so he would just vanish.

Depends on the morph of Magelight you are using, if you are talking Inner Light, that has an abysmal range, or for perspective melee range. It's incredibly easy to get out of melee range with the sheer amount of speed buffs available to players.

Which leads to your second issue, 20m detect on potions. With the server as it is, coupled with speed increases, potions can* be unreliable.

    For clarity:

Potions will show you stealthed players but not remove them from invisibility/stealth.

Magelight/Evil Hunter/Revealing Flare will remove players from stealth/invisibility and prevent them from returning for 3 seconds and the detect portions lasts 5 seconds, which have a radius of differing degrees depending on the morph.

As stated above 6m (the radius on some of most popular morphs) is nearly useless, were talking 1m more than melee light attack range and 2m less than melee heavy attack range.

With that said, Radiant Magelight is an amazing morph for counter stealth play, assuming you can fit it on your bar, it has a 12m range (furthest range of any skill) Or for a visual perspective, 2m larger radius than Revealing Flare and prevents the stun from stealth attacks for yourself and nearby allies.

So to summarize, your issue is likely due to server+speed. It's not uncommon for me to pop a potion and spend the next 15 seconds chasing a Ghost of the player I am actually trying to hit and this is with nearly all speed buffs. Since the server updates so slowly and players are moving so fast, the representation of the stealthed player isn't true/correct.

    Hope that helps.

Yes that helps a lot and I do use Radiant Magelight for the most part, except when flipping flags and I want to see the bomber approaching, so I toss back a potion.
