A common tactic in Cyrodil I see is for a group of people to hide inside a friendly resource tower before it is taken. On the ground floor set up a bunch of bunch of oil pots facing the door, so that when an enemy walks in you can kill them instantly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDTfAOf6yzs is an example
This tactic is quite effective, as it usually means the other alliance either has to keep throwing bodies in on you till they finally kill you, giving you plenty of farm in. Or they have to ignore you, letting you retake the resource back.
The only counter to this is, if the group inside the tower is big enough, is seiging the tower down before the resource is captured, a tiresome and tedious affair. As well as something that is hard to organize with a non-organized group.
I personally believe that firepots should not be able to be used in such a way. Fire pots in general are used in ways other than what they are intended.
Fire pots, in general are supposed to be used to DROP, key word DROP, hot and scalding oil on enemies from ABOVE. They should not be used as a cannon to blast things on the same level of terrain as you.
My proposed solutions are as follows.
-Make fire pots so that your target has to be below you for them to work. Make it so that they can't drop oil targetting the same level of ground as you are standing.
-Add guards inside the bottom level of these towers. Some mages, some menders, and some honor guards too. Certainly won't stop a large group from hiding in there, but might make it harder for a small person group to abuse it in such a way.
