Recent issue logging in to ESO running using Steam Proton (linux)

ESO has been running on Linux smooth as a butter. It still is. But the problem happens after all those bethesda/havok logos go off, then the main screen shows and locks (freezes), without actually logging in to the game.

This started happening since the latest big ESO patch update. The workaround is to force quit the game and repeat the above 3-5x and one time the game will just log on normally.

Anyone else running Linux got that happening?

    Not seen it here (Fedora Linux, AMD Radeon RX580)

    Probably better to ask on the Steam proton forum though.

    Ah, you have AMD gpu... could be because of Nvidia drivers too (nvidia 1060gtx here). Or the way Nvidia behaves with latest ESO update, for some reason.

    Yeah, could also ask proton forum team. Thanks.

    Hmmm... I cannot find proton specific forums on steam.

    It's an open source project managed by steam so it's using Github

    I have the same issue.

    Already tried reinstalling ESO and Steam. I thought there might be an issue with steam changing the runtime to their new "soldier" runtime but it doesn't seem so.

    I do have a nvidia gpu as well and i think there was an update just before the problems started, so i will look into it.

    Thanks for the Information, pls let me know if u find a fix before me ;)

    The issue seems to be the nvidia driver 455, which is a development driver apparently for the rtx 3000 cards and is included at least in the ubuntu based flavours.

    Maybe check if u are running this driver and rollback to 450 or 440 :)

    Thanks for trying to help.
    I stayed with 450 but I added this line in the launcher:

    PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%

    Seems like it helps...
