Maintenance for the week of November 25:
• [COMPLETE] Xbox: NA and EU megaservers for maintenance – November 27, 6:00AM EST (11:00 UTC) - 9:00AM EST (14:00 UTC)
• [COMPLETE] PlayStation®: NA and EU megaservers for maintenance – November 27, 6:00AM EST (11:00 UTC) - 9:00AM EST (14:00 UTC)

An MMO only about a week or so old has bugs, shock shock horror.

There isn’t any kind of “General Discussion” section on this forum so I wasn’t sure where else to put this.

I’m probably going to get some hate for this post but would you people please calm down about the bugs. How many MMOs have you played before this one?
I ask because every MMO launch is bumpy & has many a bug to fix.
If honest I’d say that ESO has probably had one of the smoothest MMO launches I’ve seen, to give you some idea of how bad MMO launches can be.
Yes the bugs suck; I was stuck on Our Poor Town for days & only managed to pass it by staying up to 3:30am so that the character could spawn because there wasn’t a small army camping him.
Not long after that I was trapped for about three days because of the Shattered Hopes bug witch I only managed to pass tonight by some random miracle.
I’ve also been experiencing the infinite loading screens like many of you have.
They are just the game stopping bugs that have affected me; I’m skipping all the side-quest bugs that always seem to have something to do with spawn issues, plus the PVP crashing & the occasional log-in issues.
If you have any experience with MMO launches then you should have seen this coming.
This is just what you put up with when investing in a game like this so early.
If this is your first MMO then ok you have a bit of an excuse there but understand that MMOs are colossal projects & this stuff takes time.
We all hate bugs & we’re all in the same boat here, just please have some patience, moaning & shouting things like “get your act together ZeniMax” isn’t going to make it go any faster.

    I agree with you.
One game people will always compare to is WoW and how it is today. But remember WoW had 9 almost 10 years to fix bugs and perfect the game. Though at launch it was alot buggier and there were alot of game breaking bugs aswell. They even had to shut down the servers for 3-4 days just to fix those game breaking bugs and to prevent people from exploiting them.

Think before you act. There are always consequenses to your actions eventhough you may not notice them

I agree completely! The whining about bugs are far more annoying then the bugs themselves! B)

I have played a lot of MMOs. Bugs will get fixed. A bad game is harder to fix.
    ESO is....outstanding.

Except that I and many others were long time beta testers who also did PTS, which was 24/7 game access and the bugs that were reported repeatedly were not fixed by launch. A lot of these are progress hindering bugs, game crashing bugs, or bugs like the bank duplication...all reported during that time. That was months...and months ago. They did nothing.
Add that to the folly that is customer support that is scrambling to help people, the terrible PR, and the lack of any communication from company to consumer, and that's what makes this a sad launch with no hope of redeeming itself. This game only sold 254K world wide. That's fractional compared to what WoW has to deal with. So, no, they don't get a pass because 'it's new'. FFS, people can't even access their game for 30 days free without putting in a credit card first for a pre-auth. That's false advertising. I got 30 days free with my first battle chest in WoW, and that was back when it only had first and burning crusade. I never had to deal with the pains I have from this company.

I was a hardcore defender of the game. Truly. I've loved the lore and the gameplay since beta. Best game out there as far as content/combat style for an MMO. But their inability to address core issues and lack of concern for building an actual mmo community is obvious. It was never about building a long term investment. It was solely a profit gain based on the name. And they made their money. First impressions are everything, and they blew it. Hard.

I think some people just feel a bit too entitled...at this point it's pretty much pessimist vs. optimist as to who likes the game. Too many people are only focusing on the negatives, and likewise too many people are only focusing on the positives.

Are there bugs that should have been fixed months ago? Yes. Am I going to stop playing just because they aren't doing all the things I think they should be doing? Heck no.

It's not our job to tell them how to do their job. Our job is to play the game and give feedback. With the recent patches you can obviously see they ARE listening and are fixing major flaws.

Sometimes bugs take awhile to fix...you seem to talk about WoW a lot in your post...so perhaps you might remember the blink bug? The bug that was first noticed in WoW VANILLA BETA, and lasted until...idk, did they ever fix it? People were still complaining about it the last time I played WoW, which was in Cata.

Were all bugs fixed in Beta? No, but many were...i.e. idk about you, but I have yet to be frozen in a conversation with an NPC since launch, or locked at a crafting station.

Communication is something that every MMO lacks...you can go to the forums of every MMO (including WoW), and find threads from people complaining about the lack of communication.

I completely agree, communication is lacking...and it lacks in every MMO.

I looked online, and the only place I saw your 254k number was from vgchartz...now, I don't want to say that your source completely sucks, but it completely sucks. The web page itself says that they based that number on less than 2-3% of the North American Market & have almost no data at all from the EU except for the UK.

yes, you have to enter a subscription plan...just like you do for EVERY OTHER MMO with a subscription pay system (WoW included, unless you are talking about the free trial, and ESO doesn't have a free trial.)

And "Elder Scrolls Online account and subscription are required to play" It says that right on the box, so needing to set up a subscription shouldn't have been a surprise to you. And is certainly not false advertising....

90% of the complaints people have for ESO are completely expected, or at least they should have been by anyone who has ever played an MMO before.
Gold spam: yup, welcome to MMOs in the last 10 years.
    Bots: Yup, welcome to MMOs...ever
    Exploits: Yup, welcome to...computer games?
Bugs: This is a computer program, so it has bugs....why is this surprising?
Item Duping: Yeah...this is a game with items, so...yeah.
Server Downtime: Umm...this is an MMO, there's gonna be downtime.

Hell, there is a youtube reviewer, with over a million subscribers, that was all gung-*** about ESO, who then went off the deepend because...ESO servers were down, DURING normally scheduled maintenance, NA servers went down Tuesday morning & he flipped out about how having the servers down would destroy the game....

I totally agree with the OP. The game is fantastic. I don't know what people were expecting, but I think this is the best MMO I've ever played. Sure there are bugs, but they only one Ive experienced so far that has been detrimental to me was when doing the fighters guild quest, I needed to complete spindle clutch but the first room would not clear no matter how many times I did it. Did I cry about it? Did I threaten to cancel? No, I did not. I moved on knowing that I could come back and do it later.

I completed it today, and the group I did it with thought I was boss because they all wiped at the last boss when it still had half health and I soloed it and came out victorious...I don't think they realized I was level 24 and doing a level 12 dungeon (but we won't tell them).

Bottom line: People need to relax.

Hell yeah. Loads of bugs. Loads of *** kinown since BETA and not fixed. But you know what ? Who cares. Don't you know it's always like that ? So that makes it OK doesn't it ? Cos, you know it just soooo complicated. Got to expect it.

Damn glad aircraft manufacturers (or insert any other complicated manufacturing process here) don't take that attitude.
Yeah, I got a PC. I just don't feel the need to post it's specifications for an ego boost.

Bugs that have been in it since mid-alpha, like the recent dupe bug.

The only surprise is that they weren't fixed sooner. Shameful.

Manufacturing products, which are the same is quite different than writing code. I am a web designer, so I know about code. You can write a million lines and it only takes one line to mess everything up....but the challenge is finding the line of bad code. Sure there are tools that make it easier to find and fix, but it is still a challenge because you may fix one thing and that fix messes 10 other things up. Then add in the million players all clicking on the same quest giver at the same time.

Can you tell me what is perfect in life? What is without flaws?

Do us all a favor and quite the game if you don't like it.

I honestly think the people complaining are brand new to MMOs, I really can't understand the childish rants and butthurt otherwise - I always expect the first year of an MMO to be the year of getting their footing, having issues, addressing them , etc.
