Celestial Nimbus way too complex - overheats my PS4 Pro

I just bought the Celstial Nimbus crown crate item using gems as I thought it would be cool to place it between my Mundus Stones in my public house. I looks cool indeed, but it is way too complex as in just a few seconds it overheats my PS4 Pro. Not only does the fan go into overdrive, I even got a message saying I should turn off my console. Never saw that before. Basically a waste of my crown gems.

Sorry to hear that, it’s a furnishing id love but it would probably destroy my OG Xbox one as ESO makes my Xbox shut itself down at least once a week. No other game does that?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this may be a sign that some piece of hardware in your PS4 is reaching the end of its life cycle. I don't know if you're experiencing other issues so I can't speculate which it is. If your PS4 is out of warranty and is overheating it may be a good idea to crack it open and give it a deep clean with compressed air. It might help slow the symptoms. If it's still under warranty you may want to consider having it serviced.

Reason I'm saying all this: I had a PS4 (og) quit on me about a year ago. It started developing a loud fan at times and a problematic firmware update was a final nail in the coffin. I think there was some degradation in the HDD. I bought a new shiny Pro and have no issues so far. I have a PS3 boxed up in my closet that has the same issue, and it crashes occasionally. I know that one has hardware problems.

I have one of the original first release PS4 Pro's which is known to have heating issues. The fan turns on very quickly and often. But never has it gotten to an overheat message expect now with this furnishing item. So there is definitely also something with the Celestial Nimbus involved. Hope others with an original first release PS4 Pro can confirm this.

I'd hate to have to replace the PS4 pro seeing that the PS5 is around the corner and backwards compatible. I haven't pre-ordered as I am a bit worried that future ES games won't come to PS5 and I don't want to buy both PS5 and Xbox Series X.

i dont think its a ps only issue --- i have heard a bunch of people on xbox live complain that when they place the nimbus it crashes their console back to the ui.

Yes I hope you can get a refund as well.

I don’t have that furnishing but oftentimes just doing my crafting writs in Riften sends the fan into overdrive. I can’t imagine what is so taxing there. Never got an error message, though.

Oh, certainly! I fully believe the nimbus can exacerbate hardware issues. It's pretty complex. You probably wouldn't have been able to pre-order a PS5 anyway. :( I did try, but they sold out very quickly. The messy way Sony handled PS5 pre-orders is another topic though. lol I totally understand your reasoning. I'd definitely recommend the deep clean in your situation, then.

I haven't placed that thing yet but now I'm curious. Need to decide where I want to put it then see what happens. Want someplace darker, would prefer Wraithhome but don't have it (put it back on sale already ZOS!!!), maybe I'll toss it in the Erstwhile Sanctuary's main area and see how it looks, and see if it causes my fans to rev.

I finally got around to previewing this nimbus and it looks really cool. Now I want one.

All of you on PS4 Pro please do let us know whether it works for you or not.

I don’t have many Crown gems because I don’t buy crates so I would hate to get it and not be able to use it. Maybe it would work on PS5, though. I’m trying to hold onto those gems as long as I can for stuff I really want.

(ZOS hint: I would love to be able to buy the Anka-Ra Senche outright...)

doing my crafting writs in Riften.

Why Riften? Vivec city, Mournhold or even Belkarth are setup better for doing writs, or do you just like the zone?

Riften has clothing, blacksmithing, and woodworking under one roof and the enchanting and jewelry tables are close by. The only table that is not right there is alchemy, and I hate doing dailies for that so I don’t do them.

The bank is only steps away from both.

I don’t think either of your alternatives has a better setup. Belkarth is too spread out and the banker is very far away. I used to do daily writs there. Mournhold requires you to open a lot of doors to small buildings if I remember correctly. Vivec City is small but very chaotic so I just never wanted to do them there. I have heard that you can have more trouble logging back in if you park your toons in dlc areas but I don’t know if that is the case.

I hate the Riften zone, the text chat is vile and atrocious. I try not to spend much time there.

I’ve tested this on xbox one x, I have two. previewing it on the crown store causes the fans to ramp up and the consoles crashes, with a warning about over heating when you turn the console back on (this happens of both consoles. One is OG Project Scopion but the other is a few months old)

I went to a guildie’s house to preview this and I did notice a considerable frame rate drop in the immediate area around this furnishing item/effect. I also had my game crash while trying to travel to another house from the house that had the Nimbus in it.

Try Summerset! I get all my writs done before they're finished loading on the screen, already have alchemy & provisioning on me, so then I craft jewelry, the glyph, then blacksmithing then by that time the wood working loads on the screen and then do clothing. XD
Summerset is all right there to complete everything fast.

The bank is much further away. Fine if you have a personal banker, but I don’t.

I am really unhappy that this is not available for crowns! :unamused: I was blissfully ignorant of it until touring some houses the other day... I WOULD totally buy it if it were available to be bought, directly, not take my money while I hope and gamble and fill my collections with junk I don't want... ZOS knows I bought several webs and mists and other furnishings for my projects this past month, but then things like this make me sour. :/
