Cannot play TESO from two computers in the same house

Hello,

I'm trying to play TESO with my girlfriend, but it almost seems like every time one of us logs on, the game is kicking out the other one. We both have the same external IP address since we're on the same router - does anyone know if this is on purpose to prevent multi-boxing? But if so - is there any way to get around this?

Thanks,

~Chiren

My husband and I are also on the same router and have had no difficulty logging on at the same time. Sorry, I'm not sufficiently tech savvy to be of more help.

May seem like a silly question, but you do have two separate accounts, yes?
    Daggerfall Covenant: Fork-Stealer, Argonian Dragonknight
    Aldmeri Dominion: Kadigan, Bosmer Nightblade
    Let's be civil, shall we?

Hi, thanks to both for replying. Yes - we have two separate accounts.

Imryll - do you know if you and your husband have separate external IP addresses?

My roommate and I have been logged on at the same time using the same external IP address without issue.

Is it possible one of your internal IPs is set to forward the 24100 - 24131 & 24500 - 24507 to one PC or the other? That might mess things up.

I spent a little time looking through the support site, didn't see anything about blocking two pcs from the same network. That would be really hard on them since public computer centers (like those found at game shops, college dorms and cyber cafes) would be blocked all the time.

@Chiren Checking our machines on What is my IP, we appear to have the same external IP. Who knew?

In case it might be relevant our home network is wired. Our printer is the only wireless component.

I would also check that your router is not dropping you due to an intranetwork IP conflict from the two PCs. Usually, the two PCs would have the same intranetwork IP (you and your gf's PC are using the same IP address before it goes thru a router translation). You should be able to find this information using the /ipconfig command at the command prompt (c:/). Hope this helps.

Thanks very much to everyone who replied. I know this thread is old news now - but in case anyone searches this up later - I figured out what was going on.

I have two routers - one that is built-in to my cable modem provided by Comcast (my cable/internet provider), and another one that is a higher quality Linksys model I had from earlier (before Comcast gave me this combination cable modem/router).

My desktop computer is hooked directly into the Comcast Cable modem/router via ethernet cable, and the second computer (laptop) was connected to the wireless network of the Linksys router (the range is much better around the household than the "okay" Comcast wireless).

It was this setup - where one computer was on one router, and another computer was on the other router (which was connected to the main router as another client) that caused the problem. Once I switched the laptop to the same primary Comcast router, then we were able to play together.
