Eso Breaking internet?

Firstly let me say

- laptop meets all minimum requirements for the game as suggested by steam
- wifi works perfectly fine for everyone else
- wifi works fine for me until i hit play(from eso launcher) and the game opens
- eso will still work for other people in the household but just not me

Trying out the free to play event and aside from the time taking to download the game( which is forever )

I can open steam hit play eso, it opens eso launcher fine.... then i hit play from that launcher and once the game window opens i can hit the login button and itll go to load screen

at this point you'd think it was smooth sailing except this goes on forever

- yes i updated all my drivers
- yes i double checked all firewall and defender exceptions to allow eso to function fully
- yes i have tried to run it with admin perms

My wifi just stops sending and receiving for only my computer throughout the duration of me having the game window open.

Literally i confirmed this through task manager several times it just outright stops

- yes ive attempted to restart my wifi ( no wired connection is not an option )
- yes ive restarted steam, my computer, the game
- yes ive run tools to check my router/wifi for issues just for no issue to be found

Once i exit the game window my wifi is perfectly fine again

I know i said allot but i thought i'd cover the basic's before I get common answers i've already done

So the question is....can anyone help?

Ah and before you say run the repair tool no it does not help :pensive:

Did you try to connect your laptop to your router via cabel?
I had similar problems till I connected my pc via cabel.

Just to try it out. My router is to far from my pc to connect it directly so I am using a wifi amplifier with a plug.
It's an option you could try.

its not an option the laptop doesnt have the port to do so unless its through a usb port

and i dont intend to spend money to try out a game that is " free " at the moment

there should be a different solution then buying things i dont have to fix a game that works for people on the same wifi but just not on this laptop

Ok, then maybe someone else has a solution for your problem.

    Good luck anyways :)

if vga is integrated (for example intel) there is possibility, this to stop your game from launching.

if you have good enough data plan you can try tethering from your phone(android) to check if wifi is your problem, even with your phone on wifi you can still skip your laptop wifi card.

there is usb3.0 hubs with network port.

nothing else i can think about

First thing to ask, did you put any addons with the game? Those can stop the game from loading if they are borked.

The first load of the game can take a while. While this is happening, no real network activity occurs.

The launcher will start in 2D, but the game wants 3D. The pc may not make the switch. So, force both the launcher and the game to run on the 3D graphics. Usually this is something like high performance.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

nope no addons not even an addon manager program nothing is touching the game files

the idea of the 3D is interesting i did lower the settings before login so the game could fully load... but i did another attempt at its default settings and nothing changed pretty sure default is high too.

This would indicate that ESO is not breaking the internet and that is is a local issue to your laptop. If the laptop is barely meeting the minimum requirements there just might be an issue somewhere as the tolerance is very low.

As someone else mentioned, and you confirmed, the internet connection is Wifi which is subject to interference and ESO has a very low tolerance with such things. Although this is likely not your issue as you should be able to connect unless there is heavy interference.

I would first suggest doing a repair from the launcher, then do a complete shutdown and restart of your PC. Do not use the "restart" command as that does not do a true shutdown of a computer.

If that does not resolve your issue would suggest opening a tech support ticket to help you figure out what is causing the issue.d. However, the response will likely take a few weeks since CS has had a backlog due to higher volumes during COVID.

@ZOS_BillE may have some tips to share.

    Nestor provided some good tips.

Another point, if a laptop barely meets the minimum requirements for a PC then it probably does not meet the minimum requirements for the game as laptop hardware is slowed down from PC equivalent and hence they are not actually equivalent. This is done to lower battery power and heat.

Adding more. To what Nestore said, the laptop might have a graphics program to control if the discreet GPU is used or the integrated GPU is used for a program. Using the integrated GPU for ESO would be problematic, imo.
