A better way to sell Crown Homes

I think they should always be available to purchase while you are viewing them. I think ZOS would sell more, because the player is enthusiastic, and in the moment while touring the home they want. By making players wait, well. people lose interest, spend their Crowns on something else, or forget about it. Especially with the new pathing and NPC's we can put in tbe homes. That's great, except the home I want to put them in is "Not for sale at this time". So yes, I think ZOS loses more money on the homes by making them limited time only sales. Basically, tbey just lost out on me buying an expensive home, and buying the NPC's to fill it. Please re-think your business plan, or, maybe have a month long house sale where all the homes are availabe at once to accomodate the new pathing features, please.

The whole artificial scarcity tactic is insulting. It's pixels. And we all know by now that you'll bring these houses around again. Be satisfied with the uptick of sales when a new house hits the market and leave all the previous ones available as well. Consumers are not dumb. We're wise to your "limited time" offers and we're annoyed when you obviously insult us by using tactics meant to prey upon us psychologically. Sure, every company does it. And consumers hate it and are resentful about it. Why? Because it's low and predatory. Rise above ZOS, rise above.

Better for players, but less profitable for ZOS. Thus, unlikely to happen.

I disagree with less profitable. There are several homes I've wanted, but they are never available when I have the funds. When they are offered, some emergency has come up and I can't afford them.

If I could purchase the home I'm previewing at any time, I would own every home in the game. Allowing purchase at any time, doesn't mean the home has to be taking up limited crown store space. Just that if a player views someone's Linchal Manor, loves it, then finds out it won't be available for another 8 months (if even then)... that's a lost sale. Or they could preview the home and buy it. Thus, player's decorating are selling homes for ZOS.

I doubt that. Hundred books isn't really fomo money. I know of very, very few people who have purchased a house they didn't absolutely love just because it was a limited time item.

But I know a several people who would have every house in the game if they could buy them at their own pace.

They have missed out on thousands of dollars of sales just from people I know alone. I'm sure a lot of people know such whales that would splash out on housing basically anytime they got paid.

In my experience fomo really only works for items that are like 50 bucks or less. You don't want people to actually feel the money, so to speak.

I've spent a fair amount of money buying homes. BUT you are correct. They lost out on several homes because when I do have the money, it is not for sale. And when I don't have the money it is for sale. So yes ZOS DOES lose money for sure. And given how many people play this game, it is a LOT of money. I've been here since beta. I own 43 homes.

You can buy any house anytime you want. You just have to message CS and they'll let you buy the unfurnished version. I got 2 houses this way.

And I've never gotten a house that way, yes I've tried all the strategies. The success of asking CS depends on the person you get. It is NOT a guaranteed way to buy a home,

Unless they start allowing the gifting of homes it is going to take me a long long time to get them all. I only spend my ESO+ crowns and sometimes I get optimistic and spend them on crates.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

they won't do that. It's strategic marketing. By having it limited you will buy it instead of saying "I'll wait until later" which in that time a better home may come along or you'll lose interest. You can always file a support ticket to buy a house that isn't available at the moment.

I just want them to offer houses I actually want to buy. Ones that aren't too big to decorate properly but will hold 24 players and be actual homes. In all the styles of the human races. I'd buy every one. Heck offer me some mages guild and fighter guild places and some cathedrals! I'd willingly buy those too!

    This.

Zenimax is a multi-billion dollar company and likely has marketing people that understand how to analyze the revenue potential for limited-time sales vs having homes constantly available and take into consideration that crowns are only on sale a couple of times a year.

I might just be weird but these sales tactics don't work on me at all :joy: I hardly ever buy these limited homes because I like to have the time to think before I buy a house and only ever buy one if I have an idea for it. Like the OP said, even if I love a house, if I don't purchase it when it is limited the first time I end up losing interest in it! I adored Erstwhile but didn't buy it the first time around because I didn't have any ideas for it, and by the time it came around again I had moved on from it to other things. I have an idea right now which would be perfect in one of the limited homes that I didn't buy, and if it were always available, I would have purchased it this week, probably along with many others I have missed along the way, so their sales strategies don't work for every type of consumer  .
