So that:
  • when you're doing a stealth mission, it won't be messed up by other clumsy players
  • when you're doing a combat quest objective, it won't be bulldozed by other players passing through
  • when you're exploring the area, it won't be empty because you are 1 minute behind other questers who just cleared it
  • we can have an optional difficulty slider for quests so that late-game players can up the difficulty a bit

Agreed, so long as party members are in the same instance as the party leader.

    Oh goodness yes please.

    ESPECIALLY the Main Quest.

The final part of it opens up the whole region of Cold Harbour.

    I'm on: The Final Assault.

TMK (as I only have time to play one character - and am going in blind), the final part of the Main Story.
I've tried to play it in tandem with levelling, and generally at a sensible pace. The only thing I did was get to CP160 before the final part - as that's the max gear level - in case you get anything special/nice for saving the world.

Given that ESO has a 'Main Quest', with a focus on you as a chosen person - rather than being written as you being one of several heroes running alongside powerful NPC's - why the hell is the final part of this HUGE final chapter (all of cold harbour), just totally open where other people's playstyle and behaviour can spoil it??

I'm trying to keep my immersion up, and enjoy the dialogue that's voice acted etc; everything in the plot, and clearing every part of Cold Harbour coming together. But oh wait - some random level 22 character who decided to do the main story before anything else is running through too. Or some 810 CP person who forgot about it for years is blasting past everything.
    - Ofc, they can't run normally, they have to sprint and jump every 3 steps like a coked-up rabbit.
    - They won't divert and do a different area to you - they go everywhere you're going, or sprint ahead of you.
    - Were you about to take on a guardian of something, just to have it killed in front of you as you arrived? Oh, here's credit for it but no loot. Want to experience it properly? Then abandon and restart - either listen to everything again, or now have to click through fast it to get back to where you were and ruin your immersion, before the next over-caffeinated player speeds through it.

I'm having to quit - and wait 10 minutes, and come back in - hoping I can get some window of time to enjoy this normally; without other people ruining it.

You literally have to cross a special portal, to start 'The Final Assault'.
That could be instanced with no issue.

The fact that killing quest mob/boss counts even if you haven't touched a hair on it's head is the worst.
Sorcs' and wardens' zoos in your face during some important end-of-the-story ceremony are a close second.

Honorary mention for those who sit in their inventory/map/whatever while standing at the exact spot of the quest character. Move two *** steps to the side!

Well, rant over, If I see a coked-up rabbit I just sit in a corner for a bit. They will rush through everything in half a minute anyway.

P.S. What's the opposite of honorary? Anyway, dishonorary mention for a "brand-new and exciting" (how ZOS tends to present everything) Greymoor bug where NPC have no voice, only text and some facial expressions.

I would love this for story mode dungeons.
