Freeze During Battlegrounds

Hi folks, after some advise if possible. Recently came back to the game and every 2nd or 3rd battleground I run the game freezes at random intervals during play and I cannot close anything, have to manually power off my PC. Never had this issue previously and I haven't changed any of my settings. I'm running on Windows 10.

I know its difficult to guess at with only this limited information, but is it likely to be an issue with my PC or something game/server side? My PC is way above min specs.

Seriously *** bored of this now. Graphic settings at minimum, all add ons disabled. I cant get through a *** battleground any more without your *** game freezing.

Seriously ESO sort out your ***. If you lock skills behind PVP then at least allow me to *** PVP.

When did these crashes in battlegrounds first start to happen?

Have you tried any of the basic crash troubleshooting such as repairing game files or reinstalling?

Hi @ZOS_BilliE

Yes I have tried those steps, and I'm still getting the same issue. It seems to be random - yesterday morning I completed 4 battlegrounds without this happening, but then later that day in a seperate session of gaming it started happening again.

Hey woozywyvern. I had the same problem going on for several days me and a Templar friend did extensive testing and it seemed to be when you are hit by a knock back stun such as piercing javelin while you are in the middle of an animation it freezes the game where you need to control alt delete to use task manager to get out of it and sometimes even that gives you a black screen where you have to power off pc and restart it to fix it. We managed to find a temp work around.

If your using an NVIDIA gpu, try rolling back and uninstalling to a previous version. The new NVIDIA driver 446.14 that was updated on 27th May for some gpu's causes stutter and freezes on various graphics cards (Not all, but some)

I had to rollback to Nvidia driver 399.01 on various pc's for it to magically stop the unplayable stutter's and freezes. Nvidia with the new update did stop the support for 3D vision with new drivers so it might be that.

Hey me and my gf have same problem but in PvE same problem as Woozywyvern have

We just reroll gfx driver to NVIDIA 397.64 and it still freezing up this most be something on ZoS end to be honest

Sorry for the delay on response been a busy few weeks, what fixed it for me was Go to My pc, then Documents, Elder scrolls online folder, live folder, user setting text document, and change SET RequestedNumJobThreads "-1" to SET RequestedNumJobThreads "0" it will effect some fps but it only brings me down to 50-60fps and i no longer freeze in pvp

Yup, I've also been having this issue.

Just to illustrate Exarum's detection of the issue, this is the screen crash that happened today... notice the animations being used.

FYI, this did resolve the crash issue for me. Hopefully they will do a fix soon so there's no future performance loss from the workaround.
