I need tips on how to have fun in PvP

I just cant have fun no matter what I do. I try to explore, meh. I try to assassinate people, oh, I killed one person. I try to siege, well I guess I'll sit here for an hour waiting for something to happen. I'll try to defend, guess i'll try to find someone gets to close and hope they're dumb enough to get hit by my arrow.

May I say something about sieges? It takes way too long to break down a wall or door. I wish sieges were about the battles in the keep itself, not waiting 20 minutes and hope the door gives.

At least you aren't complaining about OP abilities this time.

After playing guild wars 2 i have to disagree with the speed issue on taking keeps. Because once that happens defense goes out the window and people are just happy to run around the map trading keeps as fast as they can. I like that it takes times and planning and not a mindless group of 20 people attacking a door for 60 seconds get to take over a keep.

    Get with a good group/guild.

    Or go camp some bridges/waygates.

Yea, I agree. Siege times are better in ESO than Guild Wars 2. It was dumb to have 2-3 rams at a door and take it down in like 1-2 minutes then blow through whatever small player base was in the keep to kill the keep NPC and it instantly flips and repairs. GW2 tried to be good, but fell short in so many important areas like keep sieging and the distance between keeps was super short.

@EIyna I am sure I am wasting my time telling you this, but... You can use siege equipment to hit other siege and players both defending or attacking. You can camp bridges to kill people as they cross. You can look for resources that the enemy is taking and try to help prevent it. You could play support and try to assist allies to allow them to over come the enemy faster. Get in a guild and run with them so you have people to talk to.. I mean I'm not sure what you are looking for but if you are just standing at a keep that your allies are attacking and staring at the wall health bar...then you can't expect to be having fun. Sounds like you don't like Cyrodiil so I'm not sure what to tell you.

@Elyna - you come over somewhat negative - nobody can make the fun for you - a person has fun doing things they enjoy - if you find fault with all of the things you mention above, you have pretty much ruled out most of the pvp activity in cyrodiil

it might just simply be the case that this game isn't for you - i know a lot of games aren't for me for various reasons

Try @NordJitsu suggestion of finding a good group or guild to run with - it can truly make the experience completely different

if you follow that path, i recommend a slightly more positive attitude - most folks voluntarily spend their free time here to have fun and enjoyment - running with a negative person is something personally i wouldn't do - i value my fun and free time too much

    safe travels to you

    D.

(EDIT: adding on extra thought) - upon rereading your post it's like you're wanting the fun to be made for you
'i try to siege and wait an hour for something to happen'
'i'll defend and wait until somebody is dumb enough to get close enough to my arrow'

instead of waiting and therefore reacting to a situation (that you clearly dislike), try being proactive - attacking a keep? - get out a siege weapon so you don't have to sit around for an hour (btw i have to call you out on this - how can you be sitting around doing nothing in a siege for an hour??? - if there are no defenders you can take a keep in 10 minutes easy - if there are defenders it can take an hour for sure - but if that is the case why are you sitting around instead of getting stuck into the action???)
defending? - watch the map often and see where you are being attacked and move to the action - instead of waiting for some dumb enemy to get close enough, get off yer arse and hunt em down - you can get all the action you want - or sneak up and burn enemy siege equipment
you want to assassinate folks but having hassles finding 'customers'? - look at the map again - see where a fight is happening and then camp the straight line from the action to the closest enemy spawn point - enemies who died in the fight will usually run in a direct line after resurrecting to get back into the fight asap - they often do so in just 1's and 2's - easy pickings

bottom line is that instead of being reactive and wanting fun to be generated for you, be proactive and start creating your own fun

Maybe PvP isn't for you but I would try NordJitsu's idea before completely leaving it. I make my own fun if it becomes boring, once I went DEEP into enemy territory (I am Aldmeri Dominion, I was near Dragonclaw Keep I think) and took on a Giant... I lost lol but it was fun to try... then once I tried to get into Cloud Ruler Temple (also incredibly deep in enemy territory)... which meant taking on multiple dremora... that was fun to plan out and scheme how not to die. I didn't die... but couldn't get in.

You could be in the wrong campaign as well.

The most fun I was able to make for myself was trolling people with the WW speed bug. I cant even do a *boop* shot from a afar and annoy the living hell out of people because I get detected for 100 years. I know thats not really the games fault but I really dont see the appeal to it all. Also about the siege thing, even if I am using a weapon, it still doesnt change the fact that you have to wait. Its a total pace breaker. My faction broke into a keep and it was more fun than pressing "use" over and over again on a siege weapon, I was actually participating more with the enemy.

If you are in a well populated server then there will be plenty of fighting around resources and in the open field that you won't have to wait to find. It will always be going on. It could also be your play time.. what time do you play? Is the server populated? If there isn't action going on during your play time then you are in the wrong campaign in my opinion.

If you don't want to follow the zerg, then don't. You can help your faction by being a lone wolf. How? When a keep is under attack then those enemy players can't teleport to that keep so they have to teleport or travel from the closest thing to that keep. Generally players make a straight line for whatever objective they are interested in... find that line and you will have an endless stream of players you can pick and choose to engage. That helps your faction because any player you can kill on their way to defend is one less player your faction has to worry about at their objective.

The only way to make it interesting is stop zerg vs zerg, but that the only viable tactic in mass pvp so, it will never be fun for alot of people. Till now i dident even went into PVP since Beta and im lvl 49, bad thing is i need to do it for the skill points and achievements.

My only advice is to group (with voice - TS / Mumble / Skype). One person in PvP has small chances to have a fun - becuase he/she will not understand what other people are trying to do and the whole play will be very uneffective.
    - 4 people can camp and scout
    - 10 people can take resources (and also camp), attack behind while siege
In PvP there are many many actions that can be taken by small group of people - but they have to know what they are going to do together.
Other than PvP there are also some solo dungeons, questing and shard taking, with small group you can do group dungeons.

The most fun I had the other day, other than getting very drunk, spamming in game (rp, ic-ish), across multiple forums and getting banned from some places.

roughly midday so I went creeping, not the lotr kind ( still haven't tried that but I assume its real)

So there I was in stealth and I kept on spotting other solo players in stealth on the same side. Somebody on our side would run out and start a fight all hell would break loose for a few minutes, then it was back to stalking again.

EP in the end got the upper hand wiped almost all of us out. The bit that had me on edge was as I almost unstealthed to heal this player.

In the split second before I hit the button 4 EP popped out of stealth and made it a 5 v 1 fight. Obvious vets.

I think they spotted me because they started raining down these fire arrows. By then I was safely hidden behind a tree blocking line of sight as well as crouched in stealth, never can be to safe.

I crept away, only had my healing staff and they were vets, everybody else was dead.

I mentioned elsewhere, went picking flowers, wrong time of day for mushrooms.
