Player graphics guide question.

ChastainDragon
Hi,

I hope this qualifies for this forum. I am in fact looking for some type of guide or instruction but not how to play the game but how to make it look the best. If this does not qualify please let me know where to post it.

My 2 problems are with Anti-Aliasing and Lighting. I contacted support and they said as far as anti-aliasing they use a hybrid TXAA. If I wanted to add to it or replace it I can force it in my drivers. BTW I use Nvidia so I did force FXAA and set it to enhance the default AA and it is a bit better. I was then wondering if I could inject a second AA, as I have read can be done with TXAA and FXAA when set to Enhance, like SMAA. I found several SMAA injectors but they seem old. I am not sure what the latest build SMAA is in now but would love to know.

The second this is shader and light quality. While I am well aware this will never look like Skyrim I have seen pictures of people using SweetFX to improve lighting effect and they look amazing! The problem is I can't get it to work. If I use just SweetFX I get some obscure DX11 error and the game crashes. If I use SweetFX Configurator the same thing happens. I then read someone saying the in order to get it to work with ESO you need to run it through RadeonPRO. Well I did, and it worked, but no matter how I change the SweetFX settings there is NO difference with it on or off so I don't know what I am doing wrong. Then there is HDR, which I can turn on in SweetFX if I could get it to work.

I guess I am wondering where I can look or what I can try next. Can I inject SMAA and or HDR without SweetFX or can someone who, perhaps has it working, run me through how they got it SweetFX working with ESO?

Thanks so much for any info!

Sweet FX is just color masturbation and the lack of understanding+hack links surrounding it are just suspicious. call me paranoid but this caution is what makes me the most reliable defence my rigs will ever need.

there's a reason it doesn't sap your FPS: it's not doing anything.

I too am interested if anyone has gotten sweetfx to work. It does more than alter colour if you're knowledgable and don't just crank the vibrance. Poster above me must not have had a good experience or seen the beneficial tweaks.

It just crashes for me also, following the 'guides' to a T.

To the OP, once a true full screen mode is released we shouldn't run into many crashing issues and injecting via the nvidia control panel and sweetfx should both be possible.

It's probably worth it to wait for this rather than get things set up now with a lot of hassle only to have it all change.

    Hi,
I am able to get FXAA enabled through Nvidia Enhancer and the built in indicator shows it is working with the built in AA, which I think I read is TXAA. It's much better than the default alone. I also use the Mip Map modofication in the usersettings file, changing "0" to "-3". While there is a FPS hit the textures are a bit better

You should be banned for ignorancy and spreading misinformation.

To OP - Be sure to use Sweetfx 1.4 on 64bit systems. I use it with radeon pro and it works great. Now game doesnt look like some *** from 2004.
  • ChastainDragon
Well the one time I was able to get it to run with radeon pro I could not get any difference in the color or saturation at all with it on or off. Nothing seemed to change. If you have any ideas please let me know.

SweetFX is pretty dramatic in changes.

You must follow instructions, I kept getting the same DX error you probably had, but then learned I had not paid attention to steps. :pensive: RadeonPro works for both Nvidia and AMD/ATI cards.

These are copy/pasted steps from Reddit page link.

    http://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/1zsxmk/my_sweetfx_preset/
    1. Install RadeonPro and integrate SweetFX 1.4. (MUST be 1.4)
    2. To integrate, download SweetFX 1.4 and extract it to the RadeonPro folder (to keep it neat). In RadeonPro settings, direct it to that folder. While in settings, disable the hotkeys for everything.
    3. Make a profile for ESO (*\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client\eso.exe)
    4. Enable FXAA in the visual tab. (Doesn't work without this.) Set to Ultra.
    5. Enable SweetFX and import a 1.4 profile.

*edit* you need to add a profile - I use this one: http://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/1411/

Preset profile is .txt and can be imported through RadeonPro menu.

You must start ESO from RadeonPro, and you can tell RadeonPro where the ESO launcher is.

Also, you use RadeonPro Hotkey for taking screenshots, they look washed out when using in-game screenshot function.

OK, I will try this now. Thanks!

That worked great! I love that preset too. Any suggestions on where I can find other presets to try or how to play around with these a bit? One big thing for me is getting rid of all that post processing crap like bloom and fog etc.. This one does that nicely but can I push it a bit more?

    Thanks Much!!

The weird thing is that in game the difference is vast but my screenshots came out exactly the same as if I had it on both times. Well here is the one with my edited SweetFX profile.

No it will ONLY work when using Radeon Pro. You also NEED to use SweetFX 1.4. Now when you say it crashes what is the error message, if any?

no error message, just the eso.exe crashes, and brings up one of those lil bug reports that you type in saying what you were doing when it crashed

Hmm, yeah that's one that I got too until I followed Aellikor's instruction above to the letter. I would scrap what you've done so far, uninstall Radeon Pro and SweetFX, then download them fresh, being sure SweetFX is v 1.4 then try his instructions again. I know you probably did this but so did I and for some reason this time it worked.

    Good Luck,
