Cyrodiil Sucks

It's seriously just out of control now, and it's seeping into every other part of the game. Used to be I could just go do my undaunted dailies or BG's to escape most of the lag, but now nothing is safe.

Yesterday while trying to suffer through Cyrodiil, I literally had multiple fights where me and the other guy would just give up. At one point I was fighting with an EP inside a keep, I think Roe or something, and literally nothing worked. I know from experience that the dude is a good player, as I've fought with him before. We chased each other around like idiots for a bit, and after a couple minutes we mutually said "**** it", hung out on top of the tower and chatted for a bit, then went our separate ways.

That's what Cyrodiil is now. Enemy players not even bothering to fight each other, instead just commiserating with each other about how bad PvP has become. I don't know how you people that only play during prime time even deal with it.

Lag or no Lag Cyrodill has always kinda sucked.. theres no PvP there just A LOT of riding on your mount to see who has the biggest group. Break some walls and fix them over and over. BGs are or actual PvP and are more balance now than ever

The low-key deadliest threat in Cyrodiil is waiting for your character to enter a keep door when there are more than 10 players around.

Running around, full resources, all skills & utls greyed out & un-usable. can't bar swap, can't roll dodge.. but i can light attack? is this the new meta?! ! :P The worse thing is... other players in the same area seem to be having no problems & can burst me down in seconds coz i can't buff or heal... & when I moan about it in chat there is always someone who is like "i am having no issues.. it's just a bit of lag!" then my head explodes.

Me utterly destroying my router seems like a luck in bad luck kind of situation. I can’t play with the internet on my phone, I’m assuming, so it’s a pause of at least a couple of weeks.

I miss you all. Don’t miss the stutter. See you when I’m back up, unless you all are gone by then

ESO now only for for picking flower and play fashion show at riften. You can still do that since they are still adding more of those flashy costumes and motifs.

Just wanted to Zos know this issue hasnt been fixed. When it decides to happen (often) I walk slowly away from incoming attackers. Not sure if this intentional but it is not an effective way to get away from enemies.

Move my 50 transmute crystals once a month to pve and I won't have to go. Come on zos. Less people in there might improve something :|

The new meta is figuring out skills that work with or are complicated by the lag - snares, stuns, immobilizations all leading to the desync death that we’ve all experienced so often in the last year.

    Also fear.

PvP really has become quite boring.

And they're as unimmersive as it gets. Who are the pit demons? Who cares! Smash faces! Nothing going on that matters to Tamriel.

Plus they are a carbon copy of the pvp in many other MMOs. Cyrodiil is a special and unique experience with deep lore.

In short, BGs are for people who are just bored but they aren't satisfying. Cyrodiil is the opposite, with massive deeply strategic battles involving all your guild buddies, and it's a fight to claim the empire. And it's deeply immersive where you can ride across the cyrodiil countryside scouting out enemy troop movements, etc. Nothing at all like bgs and the only thing of it's kind.

I nearly snorted coffee through my nose on accident while reading this. Anyone who takes PvP seriously isn't there for the lore. They are there to test themselves and improve themselves. They need a good environment to do that. BGs are a valid environment as much as Cyro--in some ways more, some less. Your argument sounds like that of someone who bought into ZOS' marketing for Cyro but never actually tried it.

I was there prime time on Sunday and it seemed fine, other than irritating little mini loading screens popping up for a second every now and then. Had a blast.

Ofc, I don't really pvp - like most of the people I know, I just go there with my guild to knock over some keeps and get some AP for the golden vendor and transmutes.

Happy to engage other players if they really want to, but few seem to. It was surprisingly hard to die to get back to hand in quests...

I know a lot of people who post on the forums like pvp but, realistically, what percentage of the player base gop to Cyrodiil and what percentage of them really care about killing other players? Cyrodiil may be pvp enabled but most people there seem to be doing what we're doing. And pvp'rs have BGs to play in.

Obviously, it wouldn't be nice if all aspects of the game worked perfectly all the time. But I wonder if improving pvp in Cyrodil is really the priority compared to the other stuff ZOS could probably do that's going to impact a greater number of players.

    This is too funny...

With the new consoles on the horizon I don't think zos has any plans in fixing pvp for current consoles, so don't expect anything anymore. Their "performance update" failed miserably.

ESO is dead. Population is low, performance is shocking, terrible balance changes. Even PVE is suffering. The only reason why it has an existence is because the remaining players are addicted and still feed them money. The game lacks a competitive environment across the board due to this which drives even average players away eventually.

They don't care it seems. It's hard to play on main PC/Mac NA campaign when its full. Capacity is way lower than it was years back. Devs have shifted focus from quality of play and game design to cosmetics; and it shows. They have great revenue stream though. Why they aren't investing in infrastructure is anyone's guess.

I honestly think at this stage there’s nothing they could do to re-vitalise the game. I cannot remember the last time I was super exited for a new DLC/chapter or read good patch notes and being pumped for playing. Those changes to the vMs, master weapons was the final straw for me.

I've noticed this aswell but it seems like even the lag is RNG.

I've fought some players who smack me up while I can't buff or cast heals.

Then i've met the same players and notice that they aren't buffing up or casting skills as they should, and they bite the dust instead.

Went back to play for the first time in a year. Skills don’t fire. Laggy as hell. Latency is terrible. Population is low.

Overall, the PvP experience in Cyrodiil sucks!

    Come on ZOS!

I just had a delightfully smooth experience in cyrodiil with no lag. Probably had something to do with the fact that I don't know if there were 50 players on the whole map. Never saw more than 4 at a time.

I had a fantastic experience at 3am pc eu... I can't even play Bg's anywhere near primetime

game is bringing in new players according to the stats, but they just don't worry about retention and shoring up the servers. ZOS focused on PvE and the theme park aspect and clinged to that Elder Scrolls brand! Game should be better. I dunno what the dynamics are between Bethesda and ZOS but it's not working. [snip] They all know this. Make the best of it is all we can do. Hopefully the rights will change hands at some point and we will get a better game in future. If not, Elder Scrolls will hopefully always remain the best single player RPGs so #untitled6 will help once they get on that!!

New players who do quest content and then sign up for ESO+ to level and do housing or signed up during the confinement to see what the game is like and it doesn't necessarily mean they are staying and playing.
I don't believe many of these players are joining Trial raiding guilds or doing PVP in an organised manner.
There are some rant posts on google from newcomers (generally avid MMO players) who leave the game because of it's current state.

No, I'm saying that ZOS obviously doesn't have unlimited resources and, given there appear to be a number of issues with the game, they need to prioritise the stuff that's going to have the greatest impact on the greatest number of players.

It may be that improving pvp in Cyrodil is that but I'm not sure I see much evidence to support that. Most players seem to pve, which suggests a focus on dungeons and trials where there have been some complaints recently.

I only started PVE because PVP was BROKEN, and it's been BROKEN for SO LONG, that I continue to PvE because I can't do what I want to without getting so damn mad that I quit playing.

Not much of a PVPer. Played Cyro a bit on PS4 years ago and remember having had some fun despite being cannon fodder for regular players.

Started playing on PC recently and went in yesterday to unlock Vigor and it was an absolutely terrible experience. I don't understand how it became this bad. Also don't understand why they don't make some changes to mitigate some of these bugs that just won't go away.

One good example is the bug keeping you in combat all the time. I spent about 80 mins in there and for 70 percent of the time I was 'in combat' with no enemies in sight and the only way to remove it was to kill myself. Taking a resource kept me in battle for many minutes, well after the flag flipped. I remember this happening once in a when I played two years ago. Yesterday it was all the time. Basically playing cyrodiil without access to mount. So the simple solution would be to allow mounting while in combat too. Whatever downsides there are to this, it cannot be worse that not being able to play at all as it is currently.

Except I'm lagging out in BG's too. It's not as bad as it is in cyro, but BG's are definitely far worse performance wise than most the PvE content.

Lag is mostly occuring due to the high number of calculation required to make all the sets and skills procs work. The less calcualtion, the smoother the PVP experience. What can Zenimax do? I can't stress enough how simple that is to solve. It's incredible, that it haven't been even tried for so many years of constant lagfest. Also, I have already heard of that solution years ago.

    Hear me out and imagine.

PVP campaign with restrictions. That's what we need. Just let people use sets that provide raw stats and effects. Why first patches after 1.6 were so smooth? All people used were crafting sets along the lines of: Hundings, Kagrenac, TBS, Seducer. That would also help to deal with overal tankiness META since there would be less sets supporting heavy armor. Obviously skills should also be reworked accordingly to reduce amount of proc mechanics as well. Hard to say how should one deal with CP sytem tho. No CP version would definitely run so much smoother but CP system could also get adjusted accordingly. Enchants and poisons? Enchants were always in the game and they would better be kept in, but poisons could definitely go.

It's not just performance that would benefit from it. Enviroment would be so much more balanced due to the lack of overperforming sets. More skill based gameplay is always welcome in MMO.

Any citations for this? They had a no CP Cyrodiil and it was just as bad. There is skill lag in BG's.

the new game is probably many years away though and eso is a cash cow now so i'm sure they are committed to making and keeping this game a success for few years at least.
