Cant stand that bug that makes you walk (or ride) really really slow making you a sitting duck. Cant shake it until I log out.
And they're as unimmersive as it gets. Who are the pit demons? Who cares! Smash faces! Nothing going on that matters to Tamriel.
Plus they are a carbon copy of the pvp in many other MMOs. Cyrodiil is a special and unique experience with deep lore.
In short, BGs are for people who are just bored but they aren't satisfying. Cyrodiil is the opposite, with massive deeply strategic battles involving all your guild buddies, and it's a fight to claim the empire. And it's deeply immersive where you can ride across the cyrodiil countryside scouting out enemy troop movements, etc. Nothing at all like bgs and the only thing of it's kind.
I was there prime time on Sunday and it seemed fine, other than irritating little mini loading screens popping up for a second every now and then. Had a blast.
Ofc, I don't really pvp - like most of the people I know, I just go there with my guild to knock over some keeps and get some AP for the golden vendor and transmutes.
Happy to engage other players if they really want to, but few seem to. It was surprisingly hard to die to get back to hand in quests...
I know a lot of people who post on the forums like pvp but, realistically, what percentage of the player base gop to Cyrodiil and what percentage of them really care about killing other players? Cyrodiil may be pvp enabled but most people there seem to be doing what we're doing. And pvp'rs have BGs to play in.
Obviously, it wouldn't be nice if all aspects of the game worked perfectly all the time. But I wonder if improving pvp in Cyrodil is really the priority compared to the other stuff ZOS could probably do that's going to impact a greater number of players.
They don't care it seems. It's hard to play on main PC/Mac NA campaign when its full. Capacity is way lower than it was years back. Devs had shifted focus from PvP to cosmetics and it shows. They have great revenue steam though. Why they aren't investing in infrastructure is anyone's guess.
Running around, full resources, all skills & utls greyed out & un-usable. can't bar swap, can't roll dodge.. but i can light attack? is this the new meta?! ! :P The worse thing is... other players in the same area seem to be having no problems & can burst me down in seconds coz i can't buff or heal... & when I moan about it in chat there is always someone who is like "i am having no issues.. it's just a bit of lag!" then my head explodes.
Went back to play for the first time in a year. Skills don’t fire. Laggy as hell. Latency is terrible. Population is low.
Overall, the PvP experience in Cyrodiil sucks!
Come on ZOS!
I just had a delightfully smooth experience in cyrodiil with no lag. Probably had something to do with the fact that I don't know if there were 50 players on the whole map. Never saw more than 4 at a time.
game is bringing in new players according to the stats, but they just don't worry about retention and shoring up the servers. ZOS focused on PvE and the theme park aspect and clinged to that Elder Scrolls brand! Game should be better. I dunno what the dynamics are between Bethesda and ZOS but it's not working. [snip] They all know this. Make the best of it is all we can do. Hopefully the rights will change hands at some point and we will get a better game in future. If not, Elder Scrolls will hopefully always remain the best single player RPGs so #untitled6 will help once they get on that!!
[edited for bashing]
No, I'm saying that ZOS obviously doesn't have unlimited resources and, given there appear to be a number of issues with the game, they need to prioritise the stuff that's going to have the greatest impact on the greatest number of players.
It may be that improving pvp in Cyrodil is that but I'm not sure I see much evidence to support that. Most players seem to pve, which suggests a focus on dungeons and trials where there have been some complaints recently.
Lag or no Lag Cyrodill has always kinda sucked.. theres no PvP there just A LOT of riding on your mount to see who has the biggest group. Break some walls and fix them over and over. BGs are or actual PvP and are more balance now than ever

What can Zenimax do? I can't stress enough how simple that is to solve. It's incredible, that it haven't been even tried for so many years of constant lagfest. Also, I have already heard of that solution years ago.
Hear me out and imagine.
PVP campaign with restrictions. That's what we need. Just let people use sets that provide raw stats and effects. Why first patches after 1.6 were so smooth? All people used were crafting sets along the lines of: Hundings, Kagrenac, TBS, Seducer. That would also help to deal with overal tankiness META since there would be less sets supporting heavy armor. Obviously skills should also be reworked accordingly to reduce amount of proc mechanics as well. Hard to say how should one deal with CP sytem tho. No CP version would definitely run so much smoother but CP system could also get adjusted accordingly. Enchants and poisons? Enchants were always in the game and they would better be kept in, but poisons could definitely go.
It's not just performance that would benefit from it. Enviroment would be so much more balanced due to the lack of overperforming sets. More skill based gameplay is always welcome in MMO.

I feel zenimax doesnt care for this no more tbh i hope greymoor is good for the people that want to play it but i begrudge paying anything else into there pockets and would rather buy storage boxes for my house then to pay eso+ to have my crafty bag
