Smaller Campaigns?

IdioticUlt1mara
I think there should be a smaller campaign type. One that is a much smaller map with only 12 from each side allowed to enter or something. That may help people who want to PvP but don't want the lag and crashes that come from the massive zergs that happen in Cyrodiil? Just my thoughts but it works well in pretty much every other MMO does it not?

no all MMOs that have lame caps on their pvp suck.
  • IdioticUlt1mara
I wasnt asking for a cap on PvP. I come from Fallen Earth and WHO, where there is no cap to PvP. I am just wondering if there should be an ability for some ppl to join a smaller campaign at times. Zerg vs Zerg is good and all. However I don't feel like I am actually of any use during these battles. Whereas during smaller battles I know I am of use as I can see that I am making a difference

um your cap is 12 by your statement, if you want a smaller map size and half the keeps ect less running and more fighting not a bad idea but it cant be capped by limiting players or its lame like WOW.
  • IdioticUlt1mara
I said a smaller campaign type. I meant to say there should also be a smaller campaign for ppl who don't want to deal with Zergs all the time. Battleground instances can actually be quite fun. WHO had them from the get go and I spent most of my time in them and the other half of my time in the PvP zones. The same goes for Fallen Earth there were great PvP battle instances and massive open PvP zones

yea but they cap the number of players allowed in and that sucks, DAoC which WHO was suppose to be its part 2 screwed that up by making it WOW like instead of DAoC like where the battlegrounds are small with a keep in the middle and a outpost or 2 for the 3 sides to take but the BGs should only be lvl restricted not player capped that's what makes them boreing and plain old jane
  • IdioticUlt1mara
true they were small and a little bit of a pain sometimes. But I enjoyed them. And I also enjoyed the Queues .... forgot what they were called.

Not smaller campaigns, but I would have liked to see it tiered more. Like how they did it in warhammer. And give bonuses that help the winning side in the end campaign plus for pve. I just feel like running the same campaign from 10-50 is gonna get old real fast.

Even with the current boosts you still get rolled pretty quick if you're too low. Kinda turns some people off to even trying. The imbalance that should hopefully correct itself in time only makes it worse. Would hate to see them have to shut down campaigns just to keep it balanced.
  • IdioticUlt1mara
I agree shimm a tiered PvP would also be nice. It is quite dis-heartening when u are lvl 10 and enter the PvP zone

I totally agree with you IdioticUlt1mara .Smaller campaigns maybe wont be solution for some players, but something like that is what this game will need very soon.First of all, when ppl say PvP will be like wow,i do not understand whats bad in that?I played my share of MMOS,and trust me none of them doesn't have PvP system good as wow, nothing lame about it.Second and much more important is low FPS issue in battles with so many ppl included,it makes hard to enjoy fighting when u are under 15 FPS.I just hope they will put some arenas for 3v3 or 5v5 battles,i must say very similar to wow, where we will avoid low performance and too crowded fights in which i can barely hit enemy or i just die in a blink of an eye.I also had that feeling that i cant make so much difference or use my skills like i imagined it would be in Eso PvP.The way it is now its just a lot off running(or riding).I do respect ppl who like massive battles, but i prefer smaller fights that would give me time to be more creative.
P.S. Some1 already mentioned, dueling would be also great, its one and only way to practice PvP skills with friends b4 entering real pvp that counts.

Small scale PvP (i.e battlegrounds and structured stuff like arena) would detract from the current system. Some people are out there just to farm points and ignore the large scale stuff.

No thanks. Maybe GW2 would be a better choice for you?

Small or large scale battles is matter of choice. As i mentioned, beside performance issue,i think there is a lot off players there who share this opinion, and who doesn't enjoy massive battles where u cant be creative. My level is 22 atm,and i got into battles with 32-36...imagine what i did...died in 1,5 seconds.I do love Elder Scrolls universe,i do love way this game is made,PvE looks great also. But PvP will see some remakes im sure, since developers don't want people to leave this game because simple matter like its choice between massive fight or smaller team fights.Players should be able to choose what best fits their way of playing.

supernickx maybe you should try AoC,they had PvP system that seems to fit your playing style, and check how they end it up.

So you are essentially saying you want an arena without directly saying you want an arena?

there needs to be some sort of battlegrounds for people to play in where melee players can be more viable other than being aoe spammed down

    Agreed about battlegrounds.
Current PVP is great, no doubt, but quite often it ends up as "who can aoe harder". I think few "battlegrounds" for 12x12 bracket would be nice from tactical gameplay point of view, and I've always enjoyed tactical diversity of WoW Battlegrounds.
And speaking about "distraction from large-scale PVP" - it all depends on rewards. It might take hours to take keep and get... how much..? 2k? 3k points? Why not make smaller alternative, that lasts 30 min and grants you 500 points? I've took random numbers, but you got the idea - on grand scale there would be no difference.

Arena though (and any bracket less than 8x8 ) here would be terrible, it will require a complete overhaul of current PVP - we have too much cc, no diminishing etc.

I am glad this is sparking up more and more of a conversation ever day ^^. And so far most people seem to be under the same pretense as me, that a smaller PvP instance may be fun along with the large zerg vs zerg PvP

another thing that I think would be nice would be to make the "battleground/Scenarios" have an impact on the actual cyrodil campaign? e.g. when attacking a keep there can be a scenario for that keep to help take it? Just a little idea ^^

Lol, I find it funny when people blame level for dying in ESO pvp. My guild had a lvl 10 kill the Emperor in the our home campaign. everyone is scaled to lvl 50 and the only thing someone higher lvl has over you is more developed skills.

You don't have to zerg. The size of the map and the ability to sneak actually facilitate small scale PvP. There's lot you can do, and most of it still helps your realm. Pick a spot between a keep being fought over and an enemy's keep and kill reinforcements. Run around to enemy keeps that aren't being sieged just to damage walls and distract their zergs from their current objectives. Check NPC towns to kill people who are PvEing. Focus your build on Fighters Guild/fire abilities and be a vampire hunter. Organize 1v1 tournaments in out of the way areas with similar-minded players from the other alliances. Put together a group of 4-8 to run around taking resources from keeps far down the supply chain just to cut off the enemy alliances' ability to teleport. Convince the members of that group to all be werewolves to take advantage of that wolf pack passive and just run around ganking reinforcements and such. I'm sure there's more; this is just what I came up with off the top of my head.
