System Crash

The game just completely crashed and shut down my entire system. I was just questing along, not doing anything unusual, and BOOM. Total crash, system shut down, I had to actually power it off with the back switch and reboot the entire thing. Not sure what caused it, but it took me 10 minutes to recover my system. It seems to work okay now, but I thought the tech people at Zeni should know that this happened. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Usually this doesn't happen unless the bios senses a hardware problem that could hurt the system. Usually it's due to over temp, or if you're me a wandering and curious toe that flips the power strip under the table.

    EDIT
If it took 10 minutes for your system to come back on then that is a clear sign of a power bump. After a power spike your power supply will lock it self out until the capacitors drain out. Thats why it takes so long to turn back on. It happens to every ones power, sometimes you get a spike.

After further investigation, it might also be a Windows issue. There was a windows 7 update a couple of days ago, and, since then, I've had a couple of games crash on me due to compatibility issues or just general windows hiccups that weren't there before. If I'm right, hopefully it will clear itself up sooner rather than later.

I'm still looking into your theory, Armitas, to see if anyone else in my building had similar issues. If you're right, and you very well may be (the wires around here are old and crappy), then there's not much I can do about it, but at least I'll know what caused it, which will alleviate the worry, because at least there's nothing wrong with my machine.

Thank you for the info, I hadn't even thought about a power spike. :)

It did it again. BSoD crash dump. System is not overheating, drivers are up to date. Not sure of cause. Only happens when I play ESO and only started a couple of days ago after windows 7 did several automatic updates. Wondering if that has caused something to break with ESO or caused a compatibility issue. Other than that, no idea. Could be on Zeni's side of things. Can't seem to find anything wrong on my side.
