Provisioning Pre and Post Patch

thestalkingwolfb16_ESO
I will try to keep this short so let me start off with the prices did need adjusting in provisioning because you could accumulate massive wealth very quickly.

My current observations (no recommendation or opinion);
Provisioning does not scale in value when you increase quality like other crafting professions. For example you only gain 1 gold more when crafting a purple recipe compared to a green recipe. Blue have no gain what so ever but still require extra ingredients that are generally more rare and difficult to acquire. Purple recipes typically require 3 extra ingredients, some of which can be used to craft a level higher recipe with only a single gold increase.

Some recipes have become redundant. If you look at Crystalline White and Kaveh Red both require Camaralet Grapes and both Kaveh Beans and Crystal Berry can be found in the same zones. Kaveh Red gives you 1 more magicka recovery then Crystalline White yet the both hold the same value. If you are crafting for use then Kaveh Red is a better choice and the same for selling to other players. This occurs for every recipe that shares the same grape/malt/mash/broth/drippings/flour. There is one recipe that has one less stat point then its counter part. The current drop rate of each of the base ingredients (in the example above Camaralet Grapes) which drop at 1/3 the rate of the main ingredient (in the case above Kaveh Beans and Crystal Berry) furthers the case that Crystalline White is redundant.

Opinion;
Coming from someone that leveled provisioning to 50 on the first day of early access and that enjoys the mechanics of it this should be weighted accordingly.
The deviation in price pre-patch was reasonable with the exception that blue and purple recipes held the same value as their green counterparts. The problem with reducing the value of recipes has condensed the values of all the recipes so that the recipes you can craft from level 1 to roughly 30 (Roost to Greenshade for those in AD) are of equal value. Aside from making some recipes redundant this also caused some issue that it is easier to gather lower level ingredients in starter zones then say the higher level zones as they have more objects to search. Gold farms have to look no further then the first zone they are in to make the same amount of value as if they leveled their farming characters to level 30. Reducing the values on a scale would result in starter zone food prepared from low level recipes to be valued a 0 or a fraction of 1 gold.

Solution;
It is not possible to judge an appropriate solution to this problem. It really depends what amount of gold ZOS thinks is appropriate at what level?

Is 1 million gold acceptable at level 50?
Is a couple 100.000 acceptable at level 40?
Or is it more like 100,000 at level 50?

Some of the solutions could be creating bulk rates for low level recipes (10 = 1 gold) or changing the drop rate/frequency but this is tricky. Common ingredients already drop far more frequently then the base ingredients. I am still trying to unload over 800 aged meat, 400 moon sugar, 300 crawdad, 400 goat bits, 200 beef, 400 pig's milk, 300 Glitter Rock, 500 Molasses and 200 Crystal Berry. The other option is reduce the frequency or quantity of objects with ingredients in them, which messes with game play and enjoyment so I wouldn't touch that discussion.

    Wow.. could you post this in english please, lol...
    Are you saying that all the level 1 - 30 recipes sell for 1g each now ?

    The food from them is worth the same gold.

    What I know.
    lvl 1 -5 green = 1 gold (pre patch was 2 gold)
    lvl 10-15 green = 2 gold (pre patch was 3 gold)
    lvl 10-15 blue = 2 gold (pre patch was 4)

    Fair enough 5-15 are worth the same, but I wasnt talking just about recipe level but what level your character has to be to play in zones where the ingredients spawn.

    It doesn't matter what area you are in.. the ingredients you find are based solely on your character level not your location on the map.

    That is incorrect.

    No... not its not. The only exception is Cyrodil, and of course different faction areas.. you can level up to 40, then go to the starter island, and you will find lvl 40 stuffs... likewise a level 3 char that sneaks to the level 40 area will only find newbie stuffs.

    I went from Grahtwood straight to March and snuck my way into a town with plenty of lootables to gather ingredients. They were not of my level.

    This is actually MUCH simpler than you're making it. Crystalline White is the level 40 drink while Kaveh Red is the level 45 drink. This is why Kaveh Red gives you 1 more magicka, and therefore, they are not redundant.
