Not sure what your point is unless you are new to Cyrodiil.

    Beta - Ball Groups.
    2014 - Ball Groups
    2015 - Ball Groups
    2016 - Ball Groups.
    2017 - Ball Groups
    2018 - Ball Groups
    2019 - Ball Groups

So pointing out 2020 is starting out with ball groups is stating the obvious. BTW, it is also cold at the north pole.

Well you do see ball groups, but also faction stacks, which probably makes ball groups more appealing. [snip]

ZOS started advertising massive multi-faction fights in Cyrodiil long before the game was released. Their intent, from day 1, was to have 24 player groups banging it out with many other 24 player groups. Large groups competing in large scale battles have always been an intended thing in Cyr and touted as a feature. It was a bold and innovative plan that drew millions of us to the game in the first place.

The problem with it has never been the groups. It's the old and inadequate game engine coupled with spaghetti code on servers that can't handle the loads.

Think about it, having to spam your skills 5 or 6 times to get them to fire once, not being able to get through a door when you press "E", your siege equipment being too busy to actually siege, being told to make sure you have a valid internet connection when you try to log back in after a crash only to finally get past the character selection screen and get the message that your account is already logged in, taking 4 or 5 seconds to get on your mount and start moving (if you're lucky enough to not be stuck in combat), constant loading screens, getting stuck on render lines, mini freezes, crashing as you get to a keep, characters not rendering until after you died to a group that was several times larger than you thought... All of that is due to poor programming, the wrong game engine and servers that desperately need to be upgraded.

If you're frustrated, as I am, don't direct it at the folks who are playing the game as intended. Aim that frustration at the folks who very poorly implemented the plan to begin with and have yet to correct it after 6 years.

Strangely enough, in Cyrodiil (originally designed for large groups of 8 to 24 players) and Battlegrounds (originally designed to appeal to the "we just wanna small scale, no zergs" team players), teamwork is OP.

    Who'da thunk it.

There are smaller ball groups, but mainly they are Tower monkeys.

I'd add potatoing on the front porch of Sej, Nikel or Bleakers <-> Ales farm until a group or faction stack shows up and actually sieges or something drastic happens elsewhere on the map.

Negate, meteor shower from multiple sources, profit. Most ball groups are a one trick pony, dont fall for their tricks.
