Simply, something like champion points in crafting but without limit, just with increasing difficulty needed to improve and a limited amout of inspiration available per day. So there would be real master crafters, players who spent insane amount of time and resources to make slightly better (and thus very expensive) versions of endgame weapons. Something like crafting in ancient Ultima Online?

You still can't make me a pair of Relequen daggers or False God's inferno. So why bother?

A bit ironic that the actual inital "Play How You Want" thing was twisted into weird any class should be BiS for any role and crafters (who were actually explicitly mentioned in that line from the box) were left by the wayside.

It is what it is though. "Crafter" is not a profession in ESO and probably will never be.

Well, an ability to learn to create an outland or dungeon set would be nice, however it would eliminate the equipment grind which is something I never expect to see in a MMO.

Exactly. And this is why your "slightly better versions of endgame weapons" will never be a thing too.

There are crafted sets used in endgame builds. Also, an expert crafter might be able to improve any set. It is just about the rules.

Just because you can’t craft dropped gear doesn’t mean the OP’s idea is worthless, @Royaji.

It could be something different. Such as crafting an upgraded 1-piece bonus to already dropped Arena Weapons ... something asked about a lot in the forums.

Or they can just add it back as a normal set bonus, much easier and straight forward. And even if we were to have the ability to enhance non-crafted sets it would still do nothing for reviving "crafter" as a profession. The items are bound. They can't give it to you to enhance.

The writing is on the wall. ZOS could have helped crafter when they introduced transmutes. But alas, your 9 traits are irrelevant if you can't transmute anything for someone else. So now everyone just researched the traits themsleves so they can transmute stuff.

I don't see any help coming from another idea which will just lead to everyone making their own crafter to deal with it.

Would be nice if they added a set unlock system, like for example you collect five pieces of a dungeon or trial set and you can craft those sets at a special crafting table, all the created items are still bound but you can then go about creating what ever weapons, or jewelry you wanted, maybe even different weights for the armor sets.

Would only apply to bound on pick up sets though as a reward for taking the time to farm the sets, without affecting the overland and PVP sets that get sold in guild stores.

Would be very much against adding a pointless grind just for the sake of it.

You point out the problem with your own suggestion.

At that, it is not a good idea to add to crafting just for the sake of it. It has to be meaningful, otherwise it would just be bad development.

Also, CP itself is a bad idea. It was a poorly thought out knee jerk reaction to the original poor idea of vet ranks. So having something similar does not seem like a great idea.

Crafting gear for others died whither transmutation and outfits came around. The only thing left is furniture really.

I like the idea to let master crafters improve dropped, bound, gear for others.
    • new "Double Legendary" improvement level, slightly better than "Legendary"
    • new bound variant, "Bound, loaned from <player X>" that allows for trading of bound items to another player for crafting improvement but not equip/bank/decon/sell/whatever.

Because right now? My crafter, 9-traits, 50-motifs, 200-attuned-stations, sits idle.

I can't even recall the last time I crafted anything more than lowbie leveling gear for anyone. I think it was 2018.

Crafting is now completely decoupled from PvE and PvP gameplay. Crafting is its own little island of gameplay:
    • Do daily writs to get sealed master writs
    • Learn traits to improve chance of, and craftable variety of, master writs
    • Learn motifs to improve chance of, and craftable variety of, master writs
    • Spend writ vouchers to buy attuned stations
    • Use attuned stations to do master writs
    • Do master writs to get writ vouchers

    Edit: grammar

The one exception, at least with this Dragonhold patch, is the new set of New Moon's Acolyte. Which is at least a 9-trait set.

But I agree, it's been a long time since I've crafted too many people gear, used to be that motif knowledge was helpful, since you could make it in all styles, but with style pages, that's useless now, other than getting more master writs.
