We're still discussing what the plan is. We'll post in that main thread as soon as we have something nailed down.
Since issue lies in group finder, and abvoisly as soon as event started most people started using it to get Event Tickets... how about adding Undaunted event rewards to Delves / Public Dungeons ?

I know the Undaunted are all about group dungeons, but since the servers could not handle it then maybe it is just what you need ? It would lower the load on group finder for sure. Besides, as far as I can tell, Undaunted have 1 daily quest that is delve - related.

    Give them time.

Yes, it was a stupid move to start this event despite the server problems.

But with the number of events this season, nobody will starve or suffer other harm due to one event being cancelled, either temporarily or permanently.

They admitted their mistake by cancelling the event. That's the first step to finding and implementing a solution.

Now, they need time to develop a good solution instead of a quick fix that'll break soon again anyhow.

Simply this has happened now 3 years in a row, this same event melting the game. Yet ZOS need more time to think of a solution?.

Likely they need more time to prep a PR statement to string more players along with empty promises. Game has spiralled downhill in simple performance for a long time now.

How about as redemption they just give everyone the Opal armor styles and the next seed for the indrik. Sounds fair to me.

Follow the path of Final Fantasy 14. Have a team working on redoing the base code for the game and when it is almost viable take down this "1.0" version and launch the "2.0" "Realm Reborn" version on a completely new coding platform. The game sees longevity and still turns a massive profit.

the updated group finder was never stress tested, in fact it almost shut the game down on the PC EU server for a week after the DLC launch, this should have sent alarm bells ringing to ZOS to maybe not go ahead with the event as planed, almost everyone here on the forum knew the GF was not up to the stress of an event it barley coped with peak time server loads.
there was absolutely no reason at all this should of happened and the fact it was allowed to speaks volumes.

Firstly, shouldn't they be a planned maintenance for this coming Monday?

To Patch fix the Activity Finder option, as it's a key player option to the ESO game?

Patch test the fix on the PTS FIRST before adding the patch to the main game servers.

In-fact Please consider testing ALL patch fixes on the PTS before adding them to the main games servers,
as it would save a lot of player grief, and suicides.

Here is an idea instead of the Undaunted event.
Change the image of the Dragon to Santa's slay, instead of Reindeers pulling the slay, use Indrik's that breath fire or Ice.

Then we get to kill Santa, every day, and the Indrik's.

    or

A Witch Finder General Hunt Event.
Beef all the Witches up by making them harder to Kill by 4+ group of players.

Players must be grouped Before they can enter the Witch perimeter to kill the Witches.

    Bingo.

You gotta wonder what kind of management hell ZOS is in where they can publicly display these bumbling incompetencies over and over and OVER again without a complete team restructuring.

People complain about the programmers (who are undoubtedly interns and fresh college grads), but if the upper management is either unaware or doesn't care enough to change course despite every red flag and alarm bell going off, then it reeks of a systemic problem.

Dear ZOS, you have said the following regarding the cancellation of the Undaunted event:
"We know that the loss of this event is disappointing and frustrating, and we have begun discussing what to do in its place."
    and later
"We are still discussing next steps, and will let you know as soon as we have a plan."

It would be awesome to learn something new on this... All I notice is silence on the matter so far...
I mean it's not like this fiasco was as unexpected as the spanish inquisition, is it?

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

They seemed to be expecting it. They were all set to take it down and did so very very fast. I suspect the event was really just a test run in disguise to see if the changes to the activity finder fixed the problem. So they reskinned a bunch of monster sets and made an event that was very short so as to encourage a lot of players to use the activity finder all at once to see if it solved the issue or not. Obviously, it was the latter.

We're still discussing what the plan is. We'll post in that main thread as soon as we have something nailed down.

I appreciate a response but as a counter to this and also as a reaction to any who feel that ZOS should be given more time... my question would be time to do what exactly? You mean give ZOS time to come up with a solution to a problem that most experienced ESO players have a hard time seeing as unexpected?

True, I am not here since "the beta". That is because I heard ESO was a disaster at start. Only as I later heard it had significantly improved did I decide to give it a chance. The thing is, I have played TES games since TES 3: Morrowind and I just love the franchise because of its remarkable quality and attention to detail...

Someone pointed out they feel ZOS is being incredibly nonchalant. I agree with this. And, detail and quality rarely stem from being nonchalant.

So, again, while I sincerely admire the extensive effort Gina Bruno seems to be making in handling the PR side for ZOS team (I really hope the pay is worth it)... could someone please give us an ETA on when you'll decide upon a solution - as in if this weekend something is going to happen or not? I mean at this point I don't even know if I want to include ESO in my (this) weekend's activities or not...

You can't stress test a feature thousands of players will access, on a test server that only hundreds will ever log in to.

They can piece things back together and apply patches all they want, but if the test environment is dry, they can't account for unexpected rain. We're the rain. It all came unglued again.

The first paragraph is exactly our sentiment, what are we giving you patience and time for? Nothing has been fixed in all of the "patience and understanding" time that has been asked of us, why should we think more time is going to do anything.

On the testing of new patches and DLC's on PTS.

Players are well aware, they pay for the game. Many who log onto the PTS do so to get, tips and tricks on the new content to capitalise on themselves when it goes LIVE.

It is a misconception that players are willing to pay for the game, pay to subscribe, log onto the PTS to do testing, fill in reports, document bugs then hand them to ZOS. Basically paying ZOS for the privilege of beta testing content that ZOS neglects to test. This is from my experience over 5 years.

It started like this, but when ZOS blantantly insulting these testers over the years with neglect and incompetent decisions, this has nearly all stopped, from the people i know, play with and in many discords. It was raised years ago why not give these testers something, ZOS mulled it over and gave nothing so it died.

@ZOS_GinaBruno was part of these conversations over the years.

It is truly a shame, from my perspective, that ESO has steadily declined in performance. It has had a solid support from the player base since launch.

They have no clue how to fix that stuff. Its impossible without a major update/code rewriti ng. It wasnt planned that ESO would have such popularity and now it has life support.
At this point they prefer lose players than invest in new servers for a 5 yo game.
