Special Workshops

Throughout my journeys I have come across several special workshops. One was in Eastmarch called “Tinkerer Tobin’s Workshop. Another was in The Rift, and one more was in Coldharbor. Does anyone know the story behind these shops? I understand there is a quest related to them (I could be wrong on that) that allows you to make the special gear, but I can’t find any information on them anywhere.

These are the workshops to craft SET-items. You may craft any item to make it a part of the specific SET to get bonuses.

To be able to craft those set-items you must have the certain required ammount of trains researched for the item :)

Is there a quest related to these sites? I once found a book laying next to a forge that said I needed recipes. Any idea what that was about?

There is no quest related to the lower-level workshops. I can't speak to the higher-level ones. They are simply there for people who want to (and can) craft those sets for some additional bonuses. And I believe that book was simply helping people to understand that you can craft "unique" sets at those locations.

Doesn't seem like it. The books are for lore mostly.

    To Charwyn:
Yeah. The book said the recipes were tucked away in safe place, and I couldn't make anything without them. It kind of threw me for a loop. So I started researching the shops and I read about a quest. But since then I haven't been able to find that site again, nor am I able to figure out just what is going on with the shops.
I back over your first post. Did you mean to say "traits". And if so how does that work?
I would really like to start on these shops when the server comes back up. The one in Coldharbor is first on my list.

If you use the workshop and look in the create item window, it will tell you what the set does and how many traits you need researched in order to make an item of that set.

For example, in order to make a robe of Death's Wind, you need to have already researched two traits on robes. Each item must be researched to make the item of that set. Having two traits researched on a robe will not allow you to make the gloves if you still only have one researched on gloves.

Sets work by wearing multiple pieces of the set to get the bonus. Meaning you need say, three pieces to get an extra twenty stamina or something. What this means is that you need two traits researched on three different pieces of equipment, or you may as well just be making regular stuff. The number of traits required also varies between sets.

Ok. Now I get it. I'm pretty far up the ladder in my crafting, so maybe I can get these shops started. I'll have to go back and check them out once the server is back up.
