Campaigns are way to long

Title is pretty much thread. Campaigns are way too long. More so right now at the early life of the game. My home campaign we have 50k+ points on the closest contender, most every guest campaign I have come across is the same. Matches need to be restarted and total campaigns need to be lessened for now. More can be added down the line as needed, but there are way to many atm for any real balance outside of 1-2 campaigns.

Please shorten the matches at least for now down too two weeks, increase the time incrementally as campaigns are more balanced out and please nuke a few campaigns to get people together.

I wouldn't worry about the campaign score. Winning a campaign is kinda just like a long term small bonus. You will get gold and some rewards. The main goal is controlling the map for its bonuses that effect you at that time. even when a campaign ends the map remains the same, it is a persistant world just like in Darkage of Camelot or Planet Side 2. Only the leader boards and score resets. regardless of what the camapiagn score is any alliance can win where it matters at controlling the map for the bonuses. Once the population starts to balance you will start to see some more neutral maps with each alliance controlling their home territory. And just like in those other games every month you will see the power shift.

I agree that they don't need to be shorter. Guild Wars 2 was like 1 week when I played. That was just dumb because in the first 3 days you knew who would win. The winning faction kept winning while the bottom and med lost population due to the inability to win. It was terrible being on the losing side.. yay for no pvp queues!!! Boo for getting rolfstomped at the gate. If you were on the winning side.. Yay for winning!!!! Boo server queues with no one to fight when you get in.

In ESO at 90 days you can have swings in population across all 3 factions. The faction that was dead set on winning the first 2-3 weeks may not end up being the winner as populations change. That's part of the reason that some of the more well known guilds haven't picked a home campaign yet. Right now the score is pretty meaningless as populations shift and people start settling. Who cares if AD is winning on Dawnbreaker if 3 weeks from now most of AD settled on other servers so they can actually fight people instead of waiting for a fight.

The guild I am in now doesn't even have an official home campaign yet because we are waiting to see how populations adjust. Slanted campaigns WILL lose population as people get tired of little resistance. Most PvPers are there to PvP.. not sit and wait for the chance to PvP.

I'm not even sure why they reset at all, as points are kinda meaningless to me and that's all that changes. I'm extremely happy that Cyrodiil is as persistent as it is. There's nothing worse than that style of PvP where there's a definitive "win" and then everything is simply reset (i.e. city sieges in WAR, 1-2 week intervals in GW2, instance resets after a flag is captured [or something] in basically every other MMO).

I really like the long campaigns. I like that keeps don't auto repair on capture. I like that isn't completely like every other MMO out there when it comes to PVP. Their AvA is what makes it different than GW2 WvW. Campaign length is fine, the points hardly matter, its what you have right now that counts the most.

    90 days is exceedingly long.

I would like to see 30 as it still provides time for the initial "winners" to be overthrown and for the other alliances to work together.

I can't say if this has been happening but it totally should. In my campaign (Scourge), AD has been consistently winning and controlling the map. I would like to see EP and DC work together. C'mon people, meta game this stuff.

I think the current campaign length is perfect.

Can you explain why you think its a problem?

It doesn't matter how far away in points the other side is. If they capture the 6 inner keeps, they still get Emperor.

    Stagnation.

Length isn't the only issue. Its also the number imbalance between the alliances but that's a topic for another thread.

It's a lot shorter than Dark Age of Camelot campaigns B)

Seriously, anyone out there who is whining and raging because their alliance is behind on score after one week of a three month campaign needs to man up and fight rather than laying down and giving up like some sort of fragging toddler having a tantrum. Not that it's about winning anyway, it's about having some damn good fights along the way.

This. Not to mention it's been two weeks and already your saying it's too long?

Relax, go level and have fun. It gives you the chance to raise up in Tiers on the campaign and get a better reward. It affects nothing else.

And what is the difference if you finished 30 campaigns? What changes?

Probably a mental thing... higher numbers are obviously better

There's a lot of people not PvPing just now - more into the quest side of the game.

That said, 90 days is still way too long.
