I entered Cyrodiil without the company of my guild for the first time last night.

Now first... I now see the importance of bringing siege equipment. One can only learn if he firsts make mistakes, which is exactly what happened yesterday evening.

With that said, I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Cyrodiil. Truly.

The battles are insane and zergs feel like a proper march. Sue me.

With all this in mind, I wanted to ask a question. When in Cyrodiil, what activities are better for farming AP? I'm primarily a PvE player, with three of my four characters intended for dungeons/arenas/trials. I do have one character who is very much intended for PvP, however. With all that said, I'm still in need for my PvE characters to get some PvP experience in for the skills.

Should I just follow the zerg? Does breaking a keep gate give AP? Should I avoid capturing resources if the zerg wants to launch a surprise attack?

Don't follow the zerg, you will only learn how to PvP if you go your own way.
Nope, breaking a keep gate does not give AP, only capturing the keep does.
If you have a reason to capture a ressource (for the tick or for continuous attack buff) then simply take it, who cares what zerging sheeps want and what they are thinking..they don't know how to PvP anyway.

Do your thing! keep going and have fun :-)

Actually joining big a group will probably be the most fun and most ap. So stick to numbers and have fun. Or go solo if you enjoy this more.

In a nutshell the most AP will usually come from killing/healing players, and attacking/defending keeps and resources. You can also earn small amounts by repairing walls and doors. Also, make sure to always pick up those dailies from your home base.

AP from killing is based off of a few things but essentially the better player you kill will result in more AP. One guy may get you 4000ish AP and someone else just 1. It varies greatly. The defense/offense AP varies greatly as well based on essentially how epic the fight was. Take a keep with no one defending it? Here’s like 3000 AP. Defend one for an hour like it’s Helms Deep, here’s 40,000 AP.
