Quest rewards...shouldn't we have a choice?

I haven't seen a thread about this yet but thought I would ask if anyone else thinks having the option to choose our quest item would be helpful. I for one love the quests in this game and look forward to the rewards after completing them. However when I receive a weapon or armor piece (especially after completing a major questline) that does not benefit my play choice, I am forced to just sell it. As a templar healing class that uses light armor and resto staffs (as is my preferred style of play), why would I need anything else? If there were a choice between light, med or heavy armor wouldn't that be preferable? Especially since you gain levels in armor. I have seen this option in other MMORPGs so not sure why this hasn't been addressed. Any thoughts?

    It would be a handy idea, yes, especially for armor. I always seem to get an armor type that I'm not currently using. Weapons might be a tad trickier, but it could work for them as well.

    I thinks it's best that we don't have a choice because then everyone would constantly be on par with each other when it comes to items. Even if you have items you choose not to use they can still be deconstructed and salvaged for other items or just sold off for gold

    From a utility perspective, yes, it's nice to have a choice of different rewards.

    From a roleplay or immersion perspective however, it makes sense that we'd be presented with just one item rather than a buffet of four different varieties of the same hat.

    I disagree in that if the quest giver appreciates all that you did for them, they would present you with an option of items. If I were roleplaying, I would take one look at that sword or dagger and say, "Gee thanks but I don't really know how to use this effectively. Do you have something else more appropriate to my specialty instead?" I just did this guy/gal a huge favor by saving all his buddies yet my reward is useless.

    I like having to craft my own gear and breaking stuff down for mats. Quests are more for exp than for gear. Crafting plays a much bigger role for gear than quests or dungeon runs.

    I'm not forced to sell anything - I use stuff for research or to deconstruct for mats and crafting skill. I haven't vendored one single item of armour or weaponry in this game, they all have some use even if I'm not going to wear it.

    EDIT: the only exception to that is jewelry, please Zenimax add jewelry crafting to the game, pretty please :)

    And why exactly would a fisherman, for example, have a sword, shield, two handed mace and a magical staff in his back pocket at the fishing hole? ;)
