Free for All pvp area without objectives

I have been reading the pvp forum posts, the zone chat and the discord discussions for over a year now regarding pvp, and it seems to me that there are three types of pvp'rs...

1. Those who play the map and campaign objectives, take keeps, earn points, win the campaign, usually faction loyalists
2. AP farmers, those who dont really care where or who they play against, they just want to earn AP
3. Fighters, those who just want to fight other players, not just dueling, but small to med size group fights.

It seems to me that battle grounds and Cyrodiil do not cater to the 3 groups at all and the third group seems to be the one that causes most of the frustration for group number 1 because they really dont care about the campaign or the objectives and will just do whatever to fulfill their own objective.

While it should of been obvious to the Devs a long time ago, I feel like the solution needs to be put out there.... an open pvp area with NO objectives, Hammerfell Arena would be perfect for this... a pvp zone where its just group on group, one on one, a free for all pvp fest. Having this would then create an area for all 3 pvp groups. IC for the AP farmers, Cyrodiil for the Campaign players, Hammerfell for the open pvp'rs, Battlegrounds for the premade team fights.

It would certainly improve the cyrodiil campaigns and it would provide a more open style for those who dont want just 4 man pvp battles in BGs...

    that's funny - by the time I was done reading the initial post, I was reminiscing about old IC (without the flags, the ability to rez on any platform, the "extra" reach on ranged skills from the platforms)...it was glorious...

    they won't, but, really wish zos would set IC back with less rules and restrictions...

    let the players decide where to spend their time, and, how they want to have fun...

    on ps4 na we all used to gather in the arena district...lots of duels, endless battles between red and blue, with yellow bombers jumping in the middle of it all...

    It would be awesome to have a free for all zone or campaign. Usually I hate battle royale but in ESO it would be great.
    I could feel the thrill again.

    Btw there was a similar game that was meant for battle royale. I think even Alcast said sth about it. Is it published yet? What was it's name?

    I don't mind the flag, but open up more buildings in the upper district to hide/ambush in, add tel var leaderboard, and get rid of that annoying locked rez mechanic. Everyone left because there's no gear, and if you lost a fight you had to deal with 2 load screens to get back into it (which used to be more deadly before they fixed it).

    Battle Royal would boil down to a few tank builds in a staring contest with a few stealth builds watching.

    Free for all areas are pretty lame in a PvE game. If OP wants something like that they really need to play a PvP game.

    I dont want it, i am a campaign player and loyalist to AD... but Ive watched and read this argument for a long time and I think the only solution is to give pvp'rs an open zone they can just fight to their hearts content. Most of the people who are not faction loyal are not campaign players, they are just looking for fights. So give them an area to fight in.. thats all im saying

    True, it was never actual free for all, but there were enough players around that there was always a target, people were always dying and the action was just one rez away. No horse simulator, no double load screens. Just kill til you're killed, then rez and get right back into it. We don't have anything currently that compares to that style of play and it's sad that it all went away instantly when ZOS added flags and objectives.

    IC used to be a massive free for all in Arboretum and it was glorious.

    ZOS, of course, ruined it.

    I think one time in IC I Had like 417 kills in like 2 hours with an AP gain of 3,500. After about 10 minutes no one was worth anything.

    I remember there were times when I could complete all the bounties in about half an hour...

    at that time the platforms were still affected by the assualt reach passive...sometimes you didn't even need to leave the platform...

    for a while I actually kind of felt bad for the daedric nasties coming out of the oblivion portal by the arena district's EP platform - they didn't stand a chance...

    I'm 1 and 3. I play objectives but I also want enemy players at those objectives to fight against. Open field battles between groups are fun too.

    Old ic, but with one restriction: you cant res in same district where you die last time. Because when you meet group that outnumbered yours, they just push you with bodyes, getting res and come to fight too fast.

    That would be great, or a free for all campaign! And I am an optimist, I am hoping ZOS will create something like this in the future (I realize it would not be trivial to create the mechanics for a free for all campaign, but certainly not impossible)

    IC was never truly free for all, there were still factions. I remember the huge 3 faction mosh pit we had in Arboretum before the flags happened. It was awesome.

    Yes. The flags. For further clarification They ruined it by changing respawn rates, locations, and lockouts. they made it so you had to run all the way back from base. I remember those glorious battles in the arboretum and memorial district. Idioutz

    The simplest solution would be to open up a free-for-all deathmatch mode for BGs. Set a kill/score limit, and let players go at it without teams.

    Poor ideas and poor rebuttals all around.

    As I stated, free for all areas in PvE games have always been pretty lame. Part of it may be that die hard PvP players not interested in PvE tend to go to actual PvP games.

    More importantly is Zos has had trouble monetizing PvP. The fact they needed to put BGs into the base game is a clear indication of that.

    The other indication of the lack of real interest in the idea is that this thread is still on the first page after more than a week

    Further, neither of you offer a real reason for Zos to spend money on this. One is not even interested, the other says they want it because the game does not have it.

    Then you have this guy who thinks they are being cute with their answer yet cannot be bothered to put together a actual justification for this being added to the game. LOL To them, I spend about half my time many weeks in small scale and solo PvP. LOL

    Yea, maybe if IC takes off add another sub level that’s FFA pvp. Love the idea. Sewers is the perfect place because I’m sure it’ll be full of salty tells and excuses, a sewer is the perfect environment.
