I am not bothered about how long Maintenance or patch server downtime takes, but it would be nice if they picked less social times. So many developers chose to do this in the early morning it would be nice to see ESO fo start this practice.

Yes, that's what I said - that we're about half an hour from the end of the expected window. I was wondering if it looked like the servers would be coming back up on time, or if it was possibly going to run over.

I play at night, and I've been on when maintenance was scheduled for 4+ hours, and lasted less than 40 minutes. Conversely, I've been on when maintenance ran far over the expected timeframe. I was just wondering if ZOS could possibly give us an estimate of whether this maintenance will be ending on time or running over.

I guess ZOS reconfigured the primary power coupling

From a maintenance perspective it's a waste of time to put the details in the patch notes as most people wouldn't care or know what they were talking about anyways.

I'm a Database Admin, maintenance can be long and boring.. and something effs up every.single.time. Ah, my first DBA gig and I deleted the database.. fun times!! Thankfully the only functioning backup was only 12 hours old, so only a 12 hour data loss.

You are aware that they're different time zones?

Yes, and being that the EU server is down from late morning, to mid-afternoon, I would say it is the worst time for the server to be down for maintenance, versus Early morning to late morning.

I am pretty sure most servers start increasing in population around 14:00-15:00 to around peak time of 19:00 to 20:00 and for most players from countries that connect to the EU server, they are almost at peak time and the servers are still down.

So yeah I am aware of timezones and for those that are on the Eastern side of the EU timezone, it kind of sucks for them the most. I am from the UK so it is not as bad for me, but it is still annoying.
