The grace & beauty of the Steed Mundus Stone on a tank

So I have been leveling up a templar tank for a while now, and I have always been a bit dismayed when logging back onto my other tank characters as they seemed to move much slower and less fluid than my templar.

Finally I realized that perhaps there is a reason why my templar actually moves so much better and then I checked the character sheet and noticed that I have been playing around 50 lvls with the Steed instead of something else... :)

My resistances are capped, health is ok, magic pool ok with regen of like 1600, and I have shield block cost enchants...So I was thinking...Why even remove the Steed? The 10% speed feels absolutely wonderful, and combine the 10% along with the increased movement speed with blocking (1h & shield) and it almost feels like normal walking speed when avoiding dungeon mechanics.... Maybe if I did Trials I would need to adjust things but I only run vet dungeons.

Gotta say, if your stats are good, I highly recommend putting the Steed on your tank.

On any content my dude. I will never look back. The steed is just amazing. Vet add pulls to vcr it is so much fun ZoS will probably nerf

Most of my characters run the steed most of the time. If not running vet content or PVP, it really is the best stone. Not like I need the shadow to kill mudcrabs or do writs. Haha

It’s just as good if not better in pvp.

I would love to run the Steed Mundus just for vCR tanking alone already but then I realize that the 300 magicka regen from Atronach mundus is just 10 times better :(

Given that you sit in twisting path most of the time on tank, i don't feel any lack of speed in combat. For faster movement between encounters you may slot rapids and then change them back before boss fight. On the other hand lose of 240 base recovery is massive and noticeable.
Wherever I forget to switch mundus back on tank after overland/PVP, it's not end of the day, but all that endless flow of sustain you are used too is screwed immediately, you need to overcast balance which leads to HP drops and lower debuff uptimes etc.. or you need to chain/range taunt less mobs etc.. so yeah, it's easily manageable by the loss of efficiency and for 10% speed increase which is barely noticeable if not stacked with other speed buffs.

@MartiniDaniels I haven't seen a magblade DPS in the group finder since they gutted refreshing path and funnel health. No idea were you get the idea twisting is always there.

Well, you are right, i mostly spoke of trials. Even before they gutted it, magblades in dungeons were quite rate, it's mostly magsorcs and stamblades out there. Though as magblade I don't feel underpowered or anything, yep other classes are better in aoe, but at ST and execution when all combat field is burning so you just stand in only safe patch and send 50-70k impales, it's cool.

I ended up going magblade healer. Are they rare too? If I’m magicka I’d rather heal a dungeon for shorter queue times.

I’m asking because I’m curious, I stopped doing vets once I had all the helms in each weight.

very. nobody really plays healblade, especially in vet trials. normal dungeons? sure. but achievements and vtrials will meet struggle there. there just isn't enough utility, albeit the speed boost in question is one of their main pros.

yes, healblades are rare, hardly ever any other class but warden and templars. only thing i ask is to make sure you have orbs.

Fo Sho. When I started I didn’t know about orbs. I healed some vTrials but prefer to use my Templar. Only did them enough to get all the sets I wanted.

vDungeons are easy enough, I’ve done them all but the new one.

Many might mock it, but one of my favorite tanking characters (an orc NB) uses the Steed mundus as well.

I liked the extra mobility so much, I tried adding 5x Coward's Gear to their build (as jewelry and weapons) just so see if I might push the speediness even further.
    Coward's Gear Set (Medium):
(2 items) Adds 1206 Max Health
(3 items) Adds 129 Stamina Recovery
(4 items) Adds 129 Stamina Recovery
(5 items) While Sprinting you gain Major Expedition and Major Protection, increasing your Movement Speed and reducing your damage taken by 30%.

I love it and have a blast with this speedy tank! Sure, it's well away from meta and lightyears from BiS, but it still gets the job done and is a blast to use. Extra health, lots of stam recovery and you feel immune to damage whenever repositioning (helps out immensely with any bosses that like to teleport around). Plus, when pugging with it, you no longer need worry about annoying DDs that sloppily speed rush ahead as you can easily beat them to each pull.

I love being fast too. Played a Druid and just love it in MMOs.

You could try Swift traits on your jewellery and double take. You probably use dark cloak, but if not concealed blade with cloak too.

All great ideas which the character certainly uses! From other posts I've read, it seems most people like going Sorc for speedsters, but having tried them both I personally prefer NB because of those skills. As an orc, it's already far to easy to hit the speed cap, so Swift jewelry isn't needed, but despite that I still have them as they'll help keep you moving when in slowing CC effects.

In addition to tanking, this is my favorite character to farm Public Dungeons with (after swapping my main armor set from Heavy to a nice DD Medium, and her S&B to Bow) as she can blaze between pulls without ever slowing down. It's hysterical watching randoms try to keep up only to quickly fall behind as they blow through their stam.
