Sooooo ... anyone remember the beta forums and the pages upon pages of bug reports?

Anyone remember the folks saying "but this is an old build, the new build will have all the fixes"?

So bobbing along on my Redguard and, just off the top of my head....

Bloodthorn Assassins ... nothing spawns.

Ghosts of Westry ... first I couldn't interract with the injured guards but 19 relogs fixed that but then I have to listen to a conversation between two invisible folks ... nope, not invisible ... just don't spawn. Dropped quest, relogged repeatedly yet nothing.

Mastering the Talisman. Kill some entity .... only I can't use the rock to put the talisman down to spawn him. Again, constant relogs, dropped quest and picked it back up, went off to do a few hours of PvP and came back yet nothing.

Those are the ones I remember, there are about 5 others I just dropped and gave up on.

All bugs that were reported months ago in that old build .... bugs that some said would be fixed by now.

I'm sure we've all encountered bugs in game launches before but this is the first i've ever had entire quest chains break down within a few hours.

I haven't tried Dominion or Ebonheart yet but i'm going to take a rough guess that they have the exact same broken quests from that really old build in beta also.

I don;t know how to fix it i'm not a developer it's not my job but what I am is a fool who paid £50 for stress. If I wanted to pay for stress i'd take my kids shopping.

Add to this the lag I get sometimes when in combat, sometimes the 1-2 second delay is enough to find my character dead.
  • Grimas
    Grimas
I have not run into any bugged quests and have completed all Glenumbra quests. I
know my levelling partner when he logged on had a quest that was bugged but then he traveled to me (he was in a different instance) and he was able to complete it.

I played 13 hrs straight on Sunday but now I only get a few hours per day. No bugs yet.

Same with me @Grimas, And to @rawne1980b16_ESO all the quests u have listed worked perfectly fine for me the first day of Imperial Launch, they only glitch for some people and others it works perfecty fine. Just wait till World Wide release, when it crashes a few times due to high populated server logs, and the lag is normal for pre launches, its cause so many people in zones they will tweak it most likely every 2 days after World wide

While they worked for you, they don't work for everyone. That's probably what prompted the post. I agree the quest chains breaking is frustrating, because I like to complete zones entirely before moving on.

I am sure they will work on these things in the coming days. Beta was way worse and that was two weeks ago, hopefully more fixing to come.

Bugs are something that should be expected with early access. It's a good way to test out the servers. This is free time and we are helping ESO. This isn't launch. Chill out and enjoy the game, they are fixing bugs very quickly...

    Read the patch notes.

May I suggest the same to you.
Bloodthorn Assassins: Increased the respawn rate of suspicious cargo, plus the chance of the correct assassin spawning in the cargo.
Legacy of Baelborne Rock: Tanchim now yells at only you when interacting with the rune, instead of everyone in the region, including most of Daggerfall City.
Vale of the Guardians: Fixed an issue where the quest could get blocked if one of the monsters defending the Wyress got stuck.

Only one of the quests I mentioned is in the patch notes.

While your input was well thought out and I would read it again .... it wasn't very helpful.

Sorry for double post I seem to have missed this....

Testing the servers? That's what beta was for.

Fixing bugs very quickly .... some of these bugs were reported last September during beta events.

If it was entirely new bugs then i'd agree but these are bugs that I reported myself during the beta weekends months ago. They aren't new.

Well in 4 weeks time I guess you'll have an easy decision to make. Unless you have the patience for it. There aren't any bad bugs, and no, a quest here and there is hardly gamebreaking.

Oh i'm not in a rage, I sighed not shouted.

Bugs I can live with, I don't like them but I can live with them.

It's more disappointing than anything. You look forward to something for a while and you imagine it being a perfect blend of fluffy bunnies and rainbows when what you get is a soggy cat and rainbows. The rainbows are still there but every so often that soggy cat pops up to give you one of those evil cat stares.

I had issues with all these quests as well. I was eventually able to complete Bloodthorn Assassins (before the patch) by camping a crate on the bow of the ship. The other two have since gone grey in my quest log but I'd still like to finish them :disappointed:

Yea. I hope those people are going to hold to an embarrassed silence for a good long while. There's clearly a big problem at a fundamental level with the phasing technology and it's not going to be a quick fix.

Things are slowly improving and we're just going to have to be patient. What ZMO really need to stop doing is repeatedly claiming to have fixed things in patch notes.

Things are fixed when they have been tested and found to be working. It just makes them look a combination of sleazy and incompetent to keep making these claims.

These things will get sorted. The underlying game is great so I'm prepared to be patient.

    Read the patch notes.

Every set of patch notes since I been testing have definitively claimed to have fixed all this. The previous set explicitly said they had found the phasing tech issue causing the quest failures and fixed it.

Yet here we are - the same problems. Unfixed. They were not tested until Early Access.

Patch Notes are probably written under the stern eye of the marketing people who don't want to see any admission of major problems.

Bugs are fixed when they are demonstrably fixed - not when Patch Notes claim they are fixed.

Things are getting better but the underlying cause is very clearly not fixed.

There was one sentence my master always said to me as i was learning my job.

If you have no idear, how things work, its better to just keep your mouth closed.

I still follow this rule and i have to tell you it works wonder.

If that is an insult it's a pretty poor one as we know there was not a beta held to test these fixes. They announced the fixes - fixes for problems that arose due to the numbers playing the stress tests - and the first mass test of the fixes started Sunday with Early Access. So yes, I do know what I'm talking about. It's not exactly arcane knowledge.

And no - the bugs were and are still not fixed.

Doesn't mean it's not still a great game. It just means ZMO look stupid at best when they keep claiming stuff is fixed on the basis of wishful thinking not actual knowledge.

They are getting there no doubt.

The quest were tested with the patch from launch, and they worked, but they mass of people trying to do the quest at the same time are breaking them.

To remind you the stress test where only on the weekends, but there where normal Beta Tester that had access all the time since August last year.

yep 95% of bugs can be fixed by finding someone on a different instance and switching ...

this is why they need to introduce a method of switching between the instance ... ofc the switching instances only works if there is more than one instance so at times of low area population u pretty much have to just move on ...

Sadly the Bugs are still here and there seems to be more coming. its not just the phasing issue with quests, we have UI issues where you can't select any skills, crashes in PVP if you invite people to your group.

Whats needed is a Known Bug Thread in the Developer Tracker. But they won't do this as it will look bad, so instead they will continue frustrating the end user.

As mentioned earlier we can all make a decision in a months time, I for one will leave the game if the bugs are still bad and return in a couple of months to see if anything has improved. I play the game to have fun, some of the bugs remove the fun from the game....

I get like 45 second lag chunks sometimes. I even got one in Spindel and it's NOT my connection. It takes me 5-10 attempts to login to the game sometimes, and I largely get disconnected when zoning.

Every other MMO I play I works fine so it's not my network. My network runs on enterprise level networking hardware, and is configured fine.

It's really killing any desire I have to pay-to-play this game.

I have to say , that i am getting a bit frustrated as well , the patch they implemented yesterday was the most annoying thing ever. Every time i was trying to zone to Daggerfall or another area i was disconected with the message " An unknown Error occurred " , and if i logged in again , my character would be unplayable , since aparently it was still logged in for some reason.
Not to mention the fact that when i did manage to log on to my main , i had my guilds and friends lists , empty for a while , but that was because my toon apparently was transferred to a splash server... for about 20 minutes... no idea how that works exactly and i honestly don't mind if this happens , but i would like to have a notification if this happens , so i don't freak out that guilds disbanded or the functionality was disabled or weird stuff like that. This could be fixed , by an automated message in the prompted in the chat , informing me that i was transferred to a slash server.
Oh and the most funny thing ? After bashing my head against desk for an hour trying to play my main , i decided , to start playing an alt , and guess what happened after i finished the ColdHarbour starting area ? That's right , when i get the prompt to leave , i get disconnected Yey...

I had the same problem Memnock.

My "main" was in one of Rivenspire's dungeons and when I tried to zone out I got the unknown error. Couldn't lg back into it either, seems my character was still in the game it just didn't want to see me ... I think we fell out.

Same thing happened on 2 of my alts.

Was well over an hour until I could play again.

Then, quite obviously, they were not fixed then were they. They did not test the fixes under the circumstances that caused them. They just mistakenly and without any basis of fact, claimed to have fixed them (again).

As they have repeatedly claimed to have fixed them.

And despite patch after patch they are still not fixed.

It's not a 'they' anyway - it is some big underlying problem with their phasing technology and until they fix that just about every quest that has a spawn timer element can break.

It feels to me like they are making headway but I'm a slow leveller and not hitting quests when lots of others are.

Others are still being driven to distraction by broken quests as they level.
