Favorite and least favorite zones

I am interested in hearing people's opinions on favorite and least favorite zones, and also why for each.

It can be anywhere from the beauty, ugliness, boring, exciting, or just any reason.
I personally dislike Craglorn. It seems.... pointless, but I love Stormhaven. Kind of reminds me of where I am from.

Big, big favorite: Murkmire. I love the setting, the characters, the music, the atmosphere. The first time I set foot in the main quest's initial Xanmeer, it took my breath away. I love Mesoamerican art and mythology <3

Other favorites: all of Valenwood aside from Reaper's March. I love the Bosmer relationship to storymaking and storytelling. The quests are beautifully thought out. Alik'r Desert-- I enjoy desert settings and a lot of the quests have amazing clues into the Redguard attitudes toward storytelling and faith. Glenumbra is beautiful.

Can't stand: Stonefalls. I spent most of the summer and fall living Stonefalls. All I had to do to see hideous brown sky was look out the window. It sucks to see that on my screen too. Too bad, because some of the characters are fun there. And Vvardenfell--same reason.

I'm in the middle of a very monochrome season, so colors are very welcome. The lush green, and rivers, of Malabal Tor are particularly appealing to me right now.

I am particularly fond of doing the whole of the Ebonheart Pact. It's a Morrowwind thing. I like the lava, the blowing ash, and the rumbling background sounds of the various volcanoes.

For dungeons..I like what Daggerfall has. They are (mostly) orderly crypts, which takes me back to my old D&D days.

I'm not a fan of Summerset, as far as esthetics. It, to me, is too washed out with lots of pastel tones.
For a moment, nothing happened. Then, after a second or so, nothing continued to happen. - Douglas Adams

It is a rare mind indeed that can render the hitherto non-existent blindingly obvious. The cry 'I could have thought of that' is a very popular and misleading one, for the fact is that they didn't, and a very significant and revealing fact it is too. - Douglas Adams

Favourite Summerset. It’s beautiful and I love digging into Altmer culture. When it was first out it wasn’t exactly how I expected it to be but it has grown on me hugely. I am also a fan of Valenwood for tree cities and lore.

Least fav is Stonefalls it’s just ugly imho. Also Cyrodril is very bland and the environment empty

I don't have major favorites - I like almost all the zones.

Except Deshaan, Shadowfen, and Murkmire. NOT my kind of swamps. Just give me Morthal, please.

Favorites; Stonefalls and Vvardenfell. Morrowind. Dunmer. Stoic and majestic. That's my cup of tea.

Least Favorite; Grahtwood. It's an interesting place but not much fun to navigate. Also, the base game was overstuffed with Bosmer. Runner up would be Bangkorai; It just doesn't seem interesting to me.

Gah! I forgot Khenarthi's Roost, because Khajiit, beautiful ocean, architecture, warm sands. I also love Betnikh. It's a beautiful and relaxing place to farm mats and training sets for toons I'm leveling. I love the green, the beaches, the rolling hills.

Fave = Auridon. Gorgeous, peaceful, relaxing, easy to get around. Whenever I get upset with ESO, my elf goes to Auridon, jumps on her precious mare and rides (at a walk) along some of the beaches.

Least fave = Clockwork City. Steampunk + annoying crows.

I love Craglorn, music and atmosphere of freedom and danger, it's real elder scroll zone.

I dislike Greenshade, it's simply irritating and small and pointless with all those zombies and impassable obstructions.

I HATE Craglorn because it FORCES you to group up to do most things. Never finished any quests there, and I don't think I ever will.

I really loved Stros M'kai. In beta, I made a Bosmer nightblade (as close to the stealthy Archer thief I play in the single player games). Then, in another session I decided to try a Redguard and fell in love with that beautiful desert island. Weirdly, I don't have the same love for Alik'r. I also really love the swamps of Hag Fen (though I do NOT like Shadowfen). As a whole I think Wrothgar is really well designed between the snowy northern and more fertile, green southern areas (though the elevation makes traveling a bit more cumbersome). Belkarth in Craglorn is gorgeous and I want a house on that lake with my own apple orchard so bad. I also quite like parts of Summerset, particularly Russafeld (I really want a farm house, okay) and the contrast of dark Ebon Stadmont.

ESO is a stunningly pretty game when you take the time to enjoy it.

Favorite: Any Bosmer zone (Grahtwood, Greenshade, Malabal Tor)

Least favorite: Stormhaven. Boring quests, boring architecture, boring storyline. Very very bland imho.

My favorite dlc zone is a small instance for a Dark Brotherhood quest called the Jerall Mountains. So beautiful, I could spend hours there sneaking and light bow attacking, it’s like a dream come true.

I honestly forget CWC exists all the time, I never go there. I really don't like steampunk either. In terms of base game zones I think Deshaan is really boring. My favorite is probably southern Bangkorai, Gold Coast, or Murkmire because I like all those aesthetics

See.... I've lived in the desert since 1959. And I've hated every minute of it. We've been places where it's green and glorious.... but I couldn't get husband to agree to move there....

So - I get my green fix looking at Grahtwood. And it's a REALLY GOOD FIX.

Now if I could only live there IRL.... *SIGH*

Heh. Yeah, I get that.... I really do. Though tropical isn't my thing either. I really want to live on the Olympic Peninsula. Any other environment just doesn't have anything I'm interested in....

Hmm. That's actually not true. I could move tomorrow to Scotland. Or Nova Scotia. Or Alaska's North Slope.

I always forget about Clockwork City even though I love everything steampunk. It's so yellow and orange-- my least favorite colors. It reminds me of the ugliest SWTOR planets: Quesh and Hutta. The colors stress me out on a very visceral level. Yuck. Still, Stonefalls is worse.

least favorite - morrowind & murkmire.
Morrowind - while it looks fantastic (first time i realised the ash falling from the sky at times), the gating through the whole map is incredibly annoying but they seem to have moved away from it with summerset.
Murkmire because my fps TANKS in that zone from 60 to 30 and below for some reason.

Favorite - summerset and hew's bane
I am not a big altmer fan, their theme, their culture, altmer stories etc...they are my least favorite elder scrolls race and i'd never play one in a single game tbh...BUt i have to say, they did a fantastic job with the summer set zone...its beautiful - and not only because of the color scheme and all that - its just a really well made impressive zone..WITH NO GATING. Hew's bane is also looking fantastic and very atmospheric

well some zones / themes have it easier to impress due to their color palette - never the less, i think its important and fantastic that the zones/themes are so diverse, also with regards to color palette AND Ground/rock (if you ever noticed, the "rocks" they use in a zone are always very much themed around the region/colors)

hate. Stonefalls. I just dislike the way the zone is arranged, I constantly run into dead ends and walls there and all that flaming red is just.. blah.

love - Kenarthi's roost. first zone I ever played in, and I STILL have a soft spot for it. honorable mention for a fave. most of East March. I just love the snow, but wrothgar didn't make it cause despite snow, it has too many features I don't enjoy. story mostly. I didn't enjoy the story. dont @ me

Favorite: Craglorn. I love its pine and fir trees. I can't wait to start putting into order Hakkvild's High Hall that I've finally unlocked recently. IMO one of the most beautiful estates in the game.
Second favorites: Clockwork City (mainly because of nocturnal delves, those are amazing) & Summerset.

Least favorite: Rivenspire and Stonewall's. Both look like after a nuclear war.

Yep, the attention to detail in CWC definitely stands out. The rocks and dirt all have a metallic glitter to them. The overall vision for the area is consistent, and the artistic design honestly stunned me the moment I got there. It's amazing work. But five minutes later, I wanted to leave. Yellow... ugh.
