All characters starting out in Vvardenfell?

Hi all,

I'm new to ESO, and can't find answers to my question in the forums, so apologies if it's been asked before.

I downloaded the standard ESO pack on my PC, but every time I create a new character, my starting location is Vvardenfell. I've been told that dependent on pact, i should start in one of 3 other locations, none of which are Vvardenfell.

Can anyone provide any advice on why I can't seem to access these other starting locations? I've tried characters in all 3 pacts but keep getting the same result.

Thank you!

If you have only base game, you will start in couldharbor as a prisoner. Escaping from that prison will bring you at the start of your faction storyline. You can do this by talking to the benefactor, as the quests starting as soon as you enter faction areas asks.

If you have morrowind, you will always start near seed neen.

If you have Summerset, you will always start in Alinor.

And it should go away with Elsweyr.

Thanks - i guess my confusion comes from the pack I bought because it appears to be the base game, no mention of Morrowind whatsoever, so i'm not sure why i seem to have the Morrowind version.

the Expansion makes it like that if you have Morrowind you will all ways start there..

but once you finish the small island and go to the main land you can start the original Starting quests...

just go to your factions main city/starting city and talk with one of the Ship captain ...

i Don't remember the exact details to witch one etc etc...

You usually start in the latest chapter. Since you dont own Summerset, morrorwind will be your start because that was the chapter before summerset (technically its not a chapter anymore but thats the reason you start there).

You can however leave vvardenfell immediately and start your journey in your alliance. simply teleport or take a boat to a wayshrine in the starting zone.

Ebonheart, port or take a ship to: bleakrock isle or stonefalls
Daggerfall, port or take a ship to: stros m'kai or auridon
Aldmeri, port or take a ship to: betnikh or glenumbra

If you are subscribing or the trial is in effect then Vvardenfell could be the starting location. I expect all new game purchases include a 30 day subscription which would grant you access to Vvardenfell. That is the last zone added that had a starting area and is accessible to anyone with a subscription.

If I am correct about the 30 day subscription coming with the game purchase I would suggest enjoying the DLC content and again, that is one of the zones as access to it will end if you do not own the access ( purchase the DLC) or subscribe.

Once you've done the Vvaardenfell starter tutorial you don't have to stay there. Take a boat to your alliance's starter city (Daggerfall, Vulkhel Guard or Davon's Watch) and wander around. An NPC called the Hooded Figure will spawn. Engaging with her will lead to another NPC called The Benefactor. This mini-quest will see you duly sacrificed to Molag Bal and in the prison in Coldharbor, which is the starter tutorial for the main story line. Escape from there and you'll be on your alliance's starter island.

Probably in Elsweyr. Each new chapter Morrowind, Summerset. They change the starting location so it's likely it'll change again in Elsweyr.

Actually, it's a very bad decision to forcefully make players to start at the newest chapter zone they own at their account. It completely breaks overall storytelling order and confuses new players.
Sadly, ZOS somehow consider it OK. In Elsweyr they going to do it again, and they again not going to let us choose whether we want to start the story from the beginning or we want to jump right into the newest content.
One of the two of us definitely has gone mad. It only remains to define whether this one is the whole world or just me.

Correct. Definitely true if OP plays via Steam.

I myself got the game on Steam about three weeks ago, and the cheapest bundle included the base game and Morrowind.

There is no longer any option on Steam to buy the base game without Morrowind.
