Preferred PvP Races and Classes

Hi,

I read somewhere that most successful PvP players are those that are either Vampires or Werewolves because of the additional bonus active and passive abilities. Now, I don't know if it's true but if so are there any "better" choices Race- and Class-wise predestined for PvP?
I did my bit of research and Werewolves seem to be better IMHO, being so brute-force oriented, fast and going all-in melee. They also only suffer from Poison and there are not that many poison based abilities out there. Knowing that, Argonian natural poison resistance comes in handy and can minimise the risk.
Class-wise the division seems to be between "stealth nightblades" and "ranged AoE sorcerers". It's kind of useless to be a Werewolf sorcerer as having the range advantage one needs to get in close anyway to deal melee damage but Vampirism giving stealth speed increase etc. seems to synergies nicely with the nightblade class.

I'm probably getting this all wrong - I haven't PvP'ed myself and I'm only level 13 in PvE so please don't flame too much.

You mean those players who have an entire skill line specifically designed to rip them a new one? I don't think the bonuses are worth the risk.

Ranged classes are top in PvP simply because melee doesn't last long right now as people haven't yet mastered the necessary skills/tactics. Later on I'm sure we will be seeing melee death squads on teamspeak skulking about, or mass melee charges against enemy positions.

Right now we mostly have mobs running around, and that means throwing stuff at each other. ;)

Ranged classes will always outperform melees in large scale battles. At least 80% of all Cyrodiil pvp = zerg related, you do the math.... Additionally, to add insult to injury ZOS decided to further increase the range of all long range attacks in Cyrodiil without adding any compensation for melee specs.

As of now sorc > all, it excels at every role and is the only class, that doesn't limit your playstyle in one way or another. The guys over at tamrielfoundry call it the "masterclass" for a reason.

On my home server Dawnbreaker, the top 20 has: 11 nightblades, 4 templars, 3 sorcerors, and 2 dragon knights. Combat on Dawnbreaker is mostly small skirmishes.
On Auriel's bow, the top 20 consists of: 7 nightblades, 7 sorcerors, 4 dragon knights, 2 templars. Auriels bow is mostly large zerg fights.
It is notable that the number one ranked players on both servers by good point margin right now are dragon knights.

So nightblades seem to have an edge, especially in small skirmish style combat.

I wonder if that will change as more classes begin to unlock higher level abilities. Should be interesting to see...

Orsimer DK here. I plan on not being a Vamp or Lycan until later on. Why?

As a DK I chose to primarily focus on fire dots. Vamps beware, cause I also run silverbolt with my destro staff.

Basically I'm saying fighters guild players will win... and if my silver bolt knocks you down, be prepare to be engulfed in flames.

(May go Dual wield Lycan at some point, but right now SnB is my go to wep set.)
