An owner of a bakery sure would start caring about what his customers wanted if they stopped spending money at his bakery.
He could insist on only selling croissants, but if people didn't want croissants he would need to change his business practice unless he wanted to lose it.
And it isn't an entirely accurate comparison, since one sells baked products and the other sells a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game.

Just understand that ESO is a business, not something created to please players. ESO is made to bring money. So it does. So it should be. And so it brings money. I'm happy to support ZOS every time I can - with a preorder, ESO+, Crown Crates and Crown Store items. I'm grateful for their work. I want ESO to be a long lasting project.
Just my 2 drakes... Huzzah!“When the people that can make the company more successful are sales and marketing people, they end up running the companies. The product people get driven out of the decision making forums, and the companies forget what it means to make great products.”

I'll repeat... ESO is a commercial product. It's main aim is to bring money. Just like ANY other commercial product. Your mobile phone, your food, your vacations, etc. It is LIFE.
And feel free to elaborate.
