when you say "some fixes", are you talking about the absence of a french translation in the game ?

I can understand ZOS having to do QA and maintenance. But did you *have* to do it during prime playing time for EU players? At least be considerate to your (paying - like me...) customers, and credit us with today's event ticket - since there is no way we can log in and actually *earn* it today...

    Thank you.

    In this case, yes.

IS that "Yes we had to" or "Yes we'll give you the ticket"?

"Yes, we had to" would be what I heard her say.

I know we're flailing, and whining, and melting down here. And I know it's tough to listen to us complain.

But - if it helps - just think of us as one of your drunk girlfriends who's reached her limit and needs you in the bathroom holding our hair while we hover above the toilet.

Just hold our hair until we're back to normal, Gina. :'(

I also play FFXIV and wouldn't say it's vastly superior. They are both different games and play in different ways. The one area in which it is not superior is housing. Square Enix's draconian and ridiculous ways in what items can be placed and where in houses is limiting and stupid. Not to mention the lack of the ability to buy any house you want. In that regard ESO is vastly superior. Even LOTRO beats it in that regard.

I'll admit I don't 'do' housing in either game, so I'll bow to your greater experience there.

The games play very differently yes, but in objective terms of FFXIV just working correctly, having a customer focused attitude, robust release management, excellent optimisation to a degree that ESO cannot touch even on the very best of PCs, there's simply no comparison. FFXIV sets the standard for managing and delivering an MMO, and in my view ESO just can't even approach the level of professionalism on display from SE.

But at a subjective level, some may prefer ESO's playstyle over the more classic GCD approach in FFXIV.

    haha... no.

In your opinion maybe. I've never seen such a shallow and robotic (boring) combat system as was the case with Final Fantasy 14.

To be honest, I can't think of a single thing Final Fantasy 14 does better than Elder Scrolls Online.

I'd definitely like to see the addons updated. I found that I couldn't use the map with the addons turned on. So as long as I can play tonight to get my event ticket, I'm good.

If it's Harvest Map you're getting errors with, look at the comments on the addon's page: The author posted the exact lines in the lua that need to be changed and what those changes are. As of a couple of hours ago, you had to make the changes yourself. I'm sure a fixed code will be forthcoming.

Nope, it is the regular game map will not work with out of date addons even with allow clicked, I only have skyshards and lorebooks.

FFXIV is worth every penny of the sub IMO because the game is managed correctly with the focus on the customer and I have not ever felt I am being subjected to a cash grab.

To be fair FF has a monthly fee no matter what, so ESO have more difficulty when it comes to that area. I'm the other way around, played FFXIV for a while then got back into Skyrim, then ESO. I tried going back to FF but my gamepad was being buggy at the time and the game just didn't have the same feeling as it did before I played ESO. I have a gamepad now that'd probably work but just not really interested. It was a great game at times (understatement really, I was addicted for most of a year iirc) but the atmosphere of ESO is more to my liking I guess.

I never tried pvp in FF either, if I had done maybe I'd have carried on playing. Would like to go back and explore new areas, but the way you had to grind through 10 levels and do loads of new quests just to open up new zones put me off. If there's one issue I have with them it's the insane amount of quests people have to do to get full access to the areas and the level grinding that goes along with it. If I didn't have to do that I'd probably log on over the next few weeks and explore some of the Stormblood content, but basically after they cut off PS3 support pre-Stormblood I've not played it properly.

I have a better question. I was playing literally a couple of minutes before the game went down for maintenance at 4AM EST. Game was fully updated and working fine other than the lag that has been there for years. But that is another issue. My question is why did my launcher just download over 41GB. Yes that is not a misprint, FORTY ONE GIGABYTES of patch. No error, no game fix, pure 100% patch download and install. What in the hell was that? I'm a PC player, not console. I heard there was such a patch back in August that happened to console players. But the devs said this patch was 3.2gb. It was not. I can assure you after gaming online since 1994 and doing 58 game betas, I am fully aware of the difference between a patch and a "game fix". Well that and being a retired network engineer and in the computer industry since 1971. So why did they say it was 3.2gb when it was indeed over 41gb. More than just odd I'd think.

There was certainly a request in there for compensation tickets, even if it wasn't in the form of a direct question. While it makes more sense to understand Gina's response as answering the question about EU primetime, it's not fair to say the poster didn't request tickets. "Yes" would be a completely intelligible way of responding to such a request. That said, I'm not getting my hopes up. I do hope they extend the festival by a day to give us the opportunity to make up for this.
