That's laughably simplistic.

Solar Disturbance is my go-to morph! Even back when all it did was extra snare while inside the area (iirc).
Having Maim stay on enemies who leave the area is far better than a bit more damage on the synergy, imo. Especially in PvP, or scattered/mobile PvE fights. The defense and offense a debuff like Major Maim provides is highly underrated. It's funny and effective in PvP to drop a Nova on groups who are charging in, thinking they're badass, run around slapping my allies with wet-noodle-level attacks and get utterly wrecked. Bonus points when you stack on Minor Maim too!
Wait, I mean... uh... You shouldn't do that, because it's never effective and it's a terrible strategy. Never use Maim in PvP, please. It doesn't do anything, and isn't worth applying to enemies. They wouldn't even notice the damage loss. (Please don't Maim me, y'all!)
The thing I really dislike about the Nova morphs is the naming scheme. They take a cool and easy-to-say-in-combat name like "Nova" and turn it into some lame Solar Whatevermajig. Why not something like "Blinding Nova" or "Crushing Nova" or "Nova Bomb" or something that is still indicative of the original skill? I actually quite like Nova, and Solar Disturbance -- but I still had to look up which morph the thread was about because I just can't keep the "Solar Whatevers" straight in my head. Just me?
(Also, @ESO_Nightingale , could I suggest you list in the OP what the skill you're putting on the chopping block actually does, for clarification, please? For convenience and to avoid confusion in these threads.)

That´s it.
Everything else there is some use for, for some playstyle. CoP I have only ever thought of using on a lethal arrow spam build with lethal arrow + all FG skills, for the Slayer passive.
Solar Prison seems to be the preferred morph and I'm not exactly sure why. The stun is wasted on bosses anyway, so the main difference is: is it worth sacrificing a bit of synergy damage for the Major Maim lingering on the boss while he's moving?
That may be different in coordinated raid groups but for casual pugging, bosses moving around are rather common. So for that, I'd think Solar Disturbance may be a bit more useful.
Edit: PvE, of course.

Damn! Listing "nova morph" isnt enough i guess. Alright ill make sure to get the entire thing next time, you have my word.

For me its always seemed like prison was better for that nuke synergy. With disturbance only being better for very specific scenarios.

Disturbance's synergy does 2184 dmg, Prison's synergy does 3822 dmg. (Numbers taken from the UESP, not sure about actual in-game numbers with CP and stuff.) Is that that much better than potentially losing the Major Maim early?
I'm really not sure.
In pvp it isnt any good expect very rare occasions.
It costs too much and lasts too soon. Plus it is stationary.
It should at least floow the player like eye of the storm and that warden frost ulti.

This is not what i am asking.

Solar Disturbance (Nova morph), how do you feel?

It looks like you're creating a list of 'bad morphs'. I stand by my original response to your question.
It is a good skill. It would be interesting to see why you even question this skill. It would be great to understand your thoughts as to why you think this potentially worthy of being on your questionable list of worst skills.

Soul trap has use in especially in consuming trap when farming. And it does fill soul gems, don´t forget. So IMO it has uses. Fire rune - could be useful for setting traps by keep doors or at your own feet. No, I haven´t tried it (I prefer throwing a trap beast at my own feet and then going into the menu for extra hilarity) but I can see it having a use.
How often do you get empty soul gems? I sure as hell dont get them often. Fire rune is without a doubt the worst skill ive ever used and that is saying something. Volcanic rune is fun but not really effective where as scalding rune does hilariously bad damage.

Use Soul Trap and you will attract some empty ones. Daily Crafting Writs also bring in a lot.
I put Soul Trap on my front bar whilst harvesting ore, wood and flowers and also in Public Dungeons and Delves.
Many overland mobs only grant XP and sometimes gold and other trash. At least with Soul Trap one is picking up 4 - 10 filled Gems each mob.
A *** Dungeon can net 200 filled Gems quite easily. A Dolmen lands 30 - 50 each time.
I give the filled ones away to friends or sell them to NPC Vendors for 6K gold per stack.
