Jewelry Crafting Still Broken

Please spread the word so ZOS acts. Make this the number one talk in the forums because something needs to be done. Lowering the amount to 4 plantings must only be the start. This is still by far the most intense grind in the game. It takes days of farming just to get a single piece gold or roughly 320k. Most players in this game, even the maxed CP players such as myself, do not have the time nor should require the patience for this crap. We have farmed enough. Make Jewelry crafting just like any other craft. This is still insanely ridiculous. Get rid of grains all together, and bump it back to 8 or even 10 plantings. Something. ANYTHING.

I'm totally with you OP, this bs has to be fixed. They say they made it this way because they "want it to be special", but how the *** are you supposed to ever complete your jewelry writs? The greedy blighters known as "guild traders" are making millions of gold off of chromium. The entire thing is a *** take.

Say you refine a purple ring. That purple ring needed to use 3 zircon platings MINIMUM. That's 30 grains... yet you only get one grain back?? You need to deconstruct at least 30 purple rings, and be extremely lucky, to get enough zircon to make a single purple ring.
With other purple equipment you need to decon a minimum of 6. Not to mention the fact that Summerset must be owned to use the crafting station which I personally think is a little unfair on the peeps who don't own it yet.

    CHANGES ZENIMAX NEEDS TO MAKE:

1: Either make grains and pulverized [insert trait item name here] refine into multiple platings [etc] up to 10, depending on refining perks.
2: Deconstructing be changed to return platings, not grains.
    3: Jewelry Hireling.
4: Jeweler that sells jewelry, simple jewelry furnishing designs and Jeweler's Sign. I want my Jeweler's Sign.
5: Allow everyone to craft jewelry. Even if only when you make it a crown-purchasable DLC. Summerset is good enough on its own, you don't need to withhold Jewelry Crafting just to get people to buy it.
6: Give everyone who already owns Summerset 10 Chromium Plating and 10 Zircon Plating.
Say NO to Crown Crates. Crown Crates are Loot Boxes. Loot Boxes are gambling. Zenimax makes enough money off us.
ESO+ is part of the "Games as a service" trend. A trend that needs to die. Subscribe only when you need Crowns for DLC.
Say no to "radiant" junk quests replacing proper side content and the dumbing down of our favorite franchises.
    PCMR EU.

    1. Not sure about this one... but I understand the desire for more improvement mats.
    2. Maybe not platings, but definitely multiple grains.
    3. YES.
    4. YES.
    5. HELL YES! I hate it's behind a pay wall. I have Summerset, but I still do not have a "couldn't care less" attitude. Allowing those without it to break down dungeon jewelry will mean more mats in the marketplace and drive down the astronomical costs of them right now.
    6. No. I'm not a fan of dishing out free stuff that will improve your game because you paid for it.

    Some great points though.

Truthfully I think gold jewelry should remain difficult to craft as obtaining it by other means is expensive or the rewards for completing difficult content but perhaps they should max the writs to purple quality and lower the mats needed to craft purple, blue and green. Leave gold jewelry as is to keep it on par with crafted CP 160 gear.

@Siohwenoeht , how is gold jewelry on par with CP160 gear now? Crafting a gold CP160 weapon will run you, to put it roughly, ~50k gold. Crafting gold necklace will run ~450k. Or you meant something else?

@John_Falstaff Sorry for the confusion, I was referring to value in stats. CP160 gear takes more materials for greater stats, so should gold jewelry. I truly believe the value of jewelry crafting mats will fall as more folks become fully leveled.

@Siohwenoeht , ah, that - I misunderstood then. Well, with gear it's also a weird picture, quality-wise: making armor gold doesn't give a large bump to stat values, while improving weapons to gold does. It could use some streamlining. In terms of base material costs, all 'large' crafts including jewelry have that sharp x10 transition from CP150 to CP160, but base materials are cheap - it's the upgrade costs that are all over the place.

@John_Falstaff Completely agree. That's why I think if the master jewelry writs would cap at purple with reduced mat quantity it would help. Like others have pointed out, most folks don't even do jewelry master writs due to cost. Make it cheaper to fulfill and add a guaranteed gold grain reward.

I get it, ZOS, you want Gold jewelry to be rare and costly to craft; mats to be difficult and time consuming to get. Fine. Just reward Master Writs with enough vouchers to make doing them worth the extreme cost and effort. Add a zero to the number of Vouchers they return and I might consider doing some of them.
