Why can crafters not repair the gear they've made?

They need to find a new one. Giving crafters the ability to repair their items makes sense.

We MADE them, for christs sake :P

Even if you leave repairs to the NPCs, repair costs are too high. If a piece of armor costs 350 gold, it shouldn't take 100 gold to repair it. For lower level armor, the cost should be minimal, like 5 or 6 gold. This is only fair since lower level characters have a hard time making the gold required and are forced to just make new armor like the player above notes.

I'd like to see NPC costs remain relatively high and give players the ability to do it themselves via skill points, which would further the demand for interaction among the playerbase.

It would force you to make friends with crafters, and make them way more important for everyone.

Wait you do realize that you can buy repair kits from the inns right? I believe the low level repair kit is like 35-45g which is much cheaper sometimes then having the vendor repair it.

This still doesn't excuse not being able to repair them with your crafting skills. You MADE the items.
