Error 102 - starting launcher over does nothing.

ungodlywarlock
I've tried using Admin mode and checked to see if there was a manifest file (related to other error codes) and there isn't yet. Obviously, I started over (several times, with breaks in between).

Im not stressing it, but I do have this issue and figured I'd post it here for Zenimax since their customer service doesn't seem to be getting back to me in any way.

I basically can't even get the files on my computer. Not a good error, haha!

Exactly the same problem here. I have uninstalled and re installed the launcher, reset LAN settings restarted the pc.
Feeling a loose end developing here..... at least I didnt pay £50 for this.... Oh wait.

I am not gonna lie. I am not happy about this. I mean damn, usually I can at least make a character before not being able to play during launch week.

But I've played so many MMORPG launches where I pretty much just expect I will not get to play for a little while. USUALLY, it gets resolved somewhat (a day or 2) quickly. They say it isn't on their end...but it is.

Eventually, they'll get a launcher that works right rolled out and I assume that is when I will get to play.

Oh, well that is just lovely.
When you read up on the sticky what Error 102 means, it says this:
"Error 102 indicates an issue with the client patcher itself. We believe we have resolved the root cause of this issue. Affected players will need to restart their patchers. If this does not resolve the error, please contact Customer Support."

So naturally, I did what it said (restart dozens of times throughout the day). After not having any success the first few times, I put in a ticket.

After waiting pretty much all day, this is the email I got:
"Error 102 indicates an issue with the client patcher itself. We believe we have resolved the root cause of this issue. Affected players will need to restart their patchers. If this does not resolve the error, please contact Customer Support."

In my original ticket to them, I explained that I did in fact already try to restart the launcher several times. It appears that my ticket was not even read.

Not feeling very good about my purchase at this particularly point in time despite the fact that I understand launch week is very hectic for the developer. I expected a bit more than, well, actually negative help.

    Greetings My Fellow Gamer James!

Thank you for once again contacting The Elder Scrolls Online Team with a more elaborate response. Now, lets see if we can make a step in progression to make you a happy customer.

First, players should make sure to disabling their anti-virus and firewall software as this may be causing a problem with the installation. Be sure to turn everything back on afterwards.
Next, players should run the installer/patcher as an administrator. This generally fixes any write protection or restriction issues that can sometimes cause problems.
Additionally, if players have overclock turned on, they should try to turn it off.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, pause the download and click on the Repair option within the patcher itself. If the Repair option is not visible, manually cancel the update. This should allow the Repair button to appear. If the launcher continues to update, click Settings and turn automatic updates off.
If players are still not able to get past that error message, they will need to uninstall the game completely, and restart the computer. Once this is done, delete hidden folders. To reveal hidden folders, please follow the instructions on the Microsoft website: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files#show-hidden-files=windows-7
Now, open Windows Explorer and type C:\programdata in the address bar. Finally, find and delete the Zenimax Online or ESO folder. Then, re-download the installer from https://account.elderscrollsonline.com.
Players can also try repeating the above process and change the installation directory directly to the C: drive, outside of the Program Files folder.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, please reply with a copy of your DxDiag and MSInfo. Players can use this article if they require assistance with retrieving their DxDiag and MSInfo.

    Warm Regards,
    The Elder Scrolls Online Team"

Only problem is nothing worked and the Game consultant button on the patcher also does nothing.

    Mint.

Well, I can download it from one computer (home), but not the other (work - I stay late at work sometimes and it's nice to be able to check stuff out on breaks).

So basically, I guess this just means that I can't play at work.

I honestly don't know why this is an issue with some games and not others. Anything Blizzard makes I can download anywhere and play easily. It even saves progress on my downloader if it crashes.

    Oh well, I guess.
  • jamiebanwen
Oh well for you good sir yes, However I am Still £50 down and no better off. No useful help and the tools they put in place to help dont even work anyway
  • jamiebanwen
UPDATE!!! ** Ok Anyone interested/ reading, I have run the launcher using the RAZER GAME BOOSTER. It worked and started downloading straight away.
Means you need the game booster to work it but will solve problem at least temporarily.

    GOOD LUCK!!!
  • ungodlywarlock
Okay, right on! I have never even heard of that, but I will give that a try. Thanks!
  • ungodlywarlock
Still doesn't work for me on my work account. Must be some kinda firewall causing issues.

I'm glad that you got yours working, man!
