Client wont launch

DovahkiinKreiger313
I have been trying since 7 am and even a couple days before to get my launcher to open properly, even after numerous re installs and computer restarts, I still have made no progress, I have even done all secondary options of bypassing the program through my anti virus, turning off my firewall and still nothing.

I have also repeatedly downloaded new and new versions of the eso download client and even that does not work.

    Hey,

Have you tried running the game as an Administrator?

You can do this by right-clicking the launcher and selecting run as Administrator.

You may also want to try navigating to the root folder and running eso.exe as an administrator as well.

Try this, it worked for me:

Pressing the Play button on the launcher and nothing happening ("grey play button").
This is not a guaranteed fix, but we have seen it alleviate this bug for multiple posters on the forums.
Please go to your "My Documents/The Elder Scrolls Online" folder and open the folder in there called "Live."
Check to see if there is a file called "UserSettings.txt" in there.
If there is a file called "UserSettings.txt" do the below.
Open the file "UserSettings.txt" in Notepad, and delete all the content in it.
Copy and paste the text quoted at the bottom of this post.
    Save and close the file.
    Restart your launcher.
If there is NOT a file called "UserSettings.txt, do the following:
Open the Notepad program and paste in the text quoted at the bottom of this post.
Save the file as "UserSettings.txt" in your My Documents/The Elder Scrolls Online folder.
    Restart your launcher.

Same issue for me, tried all of the suggestions on the forums. I click play, it goes grey, and the crash reporter pops up notifying me that "eso has stopped working." It has been this way all day. So glad I paid for all this early access I'm able to use.

Hey guys for anyone wondering there is known issues shown on the forums here is a linkhttp://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/61626/please-read-first-known-technical-issues-pc#latest some of your issues may be here.

My issue is an integrated graphics card and at the time am unable to play. hope this helps!

Yea, I saw this comment on that post:

Possible resolution to crashes / lockups / not loading after clicking Play on some laptops:

Some laptops include Nvidia Optimus Technology, which is basically a GPU switch that starts with an Intel HD4000 and will then switch to another integrated GPU for higher end performance. We are investigating as to whether The Elder Scrolls Online makes the transition or not, and believe that changing Nvidia’s settings may alleviate the issue.

However, I have my GeForce set to run all of my games and followed all instructions in the post and still no luck. I can play any other game, including MMO's, at high FPS and low latency with zero issues with this laptop. Something is messed up with ESO and for 80 bucks we shouldn't be dealing with this crap where gaming laptops can't run your game.

I'm still waiting for a response on my support ticket, but any other suggestions welcome.

Im utterly pissed that I waited and worked my ass off all week to even get to Sunday and now I have to go back to work all week and possibly wait till damned Friday or who knows how long to even play, if other people payed the same amount as me and ARE ACTUALLY PLAYING, I should be playing too dammit.

I currently have nothing left to try, I understand this is the first day of launch...but *** they should have had it figured out if certain video cards can even handle this damn game, even though I played the beta fine.

I got mine working tonight based on an idea someone else on the forums had. Uninstall your video card drivers, then re-install them. I had up to date drivers, but the act of uninstalling and re-installing the latest ones seemed to clear up my issue. Good luck!

I might try this later! as of now my launcher straight to login screen works fine from within the game folder, so I set that as the desktop icon for now, as i notice my problem still persists when not running in safe mode my actual launcher does not want to work still, so to update I must run in safe mode.

Aw well, least I can play now! thanks for the tip as well.
