Honestly its not hard to buy materials either. Wood/Metal/Leather are cheap now. Sure Silk is a bit pricey but still.
If you do one toons worth of writs a day you get a few tannins, and surveys. Plus post motif event everyone should be loaded too.
It's a non issue unless you are a new starter just hit 160 perhaps but still, your first end game gear should take some effort.
Or farm nodes in DLC anniversary events for double drops.
Or make it so we get more mats back from deconning them?
For the times you craft & forget to tab to 'Set Armour'
Once you have your CP160 gear, you'll only need to make more when something drastic happens, such as needing to switch a character from one armour type to another - making a DPS into a Tank, for example. The daily crafting writs are at CP150, so don't have an issue. So the drain on the top-level mats is much lower in general.
You may see an imbalance in the material types, because leather nodes fight back, and the others don't. And crafting writs use up silk faster than leather, which offsets that a bit. In my case, it means that both are lower than the rest, but I still have more top-level mats than the lower ones, with five of my seven characters being below L50.
I don't think anything needs fixing. You'll get through the initial barrier, and not have the problem again.
