but is it enough for 2 more skill lines coming with summerset? THAT is the question. will summeret come with enough skillpoints to cover jewelcrafting and psyjic?

becasue I have no skillpoints to spare RIGHT NOW.

Then u should focus on farming ur skillpoints... Around 190-210 are enough for 2 weapons, 3 base skill lines, some undaunted, fighters, mages, crafting and researching.
If u also want thieves, etc guild skills and passives, get over 240 skillpoints, ergo do the Cadvel's bronz, silver and gold quests, clear Craglorn dungs and chainquests.
Over 300 skillpoints its just so hard to sort them all out...

Also, make ur char ready to rumble in vet dungs, as well public dungs; theres 1 skillpoint for each vet/public dung quest.
In a week or 2 u will have more than u can spare.

How many skill points do you currently have allocated on your main crafter, @Linaleah?

not that i have to prove anything to you and the whole argument against more skill points is selfish as heck since YOU lose nothing from having more skill points available so why the heck argue against them?, but fine. i will bite. (incidentally given how many achievements are required to be able to buy a variety of furnishings let alone houses, its kind funny that you cannot see how having a lot of skill points and being into housing goes hand in hand.)

btw, to the dude above with reading comprehension issues - 1. you don't need to do the dungeon quests on vet, and 2 a lot of us already did dungeon quests, and the ones that didn't - MAY NOT HAVE THEM ACCESSIBLE for whatever reasons of playstyle, which is why more quest based/skyshard points added is ideal, based on my respec cost (becasue to be honest, i can't figure out where the heck you can actualy see your number of skillpoints with respecing first) I have 341 points unlocked currently, with only a single point as a floater. respec cost was 17k, and if I remember correctly its 50 gold per point.

I'm missing a few group dungeons which as a dirty rotten casual I am unlikely to be able to get done on this particular character (I have unlocked most trophies on my healer, my main is... not a healer, she is according to the forum standards of what dps should be able to pull - a fake dps/fake tank), so unless someone takes pity on me those dungeons are not happening and the rest is from pvp. given how much time it took me to get to assault 8 as it is? those 42 skill points are highly unlikely any time soon or ever. i might be able to grab... 2 maybe? 3? in a few months during mayhem event, but that's about it. all the solo skill points? I have. yes that includes those behind the gates skyshards in Cyrodil since you need those to be able to buy decorative skyshard for housing (and the dye is very nice too).

so yes. if i wanted to level crafting and at least some psyjic, i would have to actively remove skill points from things I'm actualy using them on.

but all of that justifying aside, I ask you. please. tell me. WHY are you against summerset providing the exact amount of skillpoints needed to max out the skill lines introduced with summerset?

Summerset is a huge zone and will come with a minimum of 16 skyshards - 5 skill points. You always get 3 skill points from story quests per large zone. Summerset will also have 2 public dungeons, that's another 2 skill points. So, we will receive a minimum of 10 skill points - guaranteed.

If the Psijic Order is like TG and DB, the guild quests will grant another couple of skill points.

Psijic Order skill line will have 5 active skills and 5 passives. So, it will require 20 skill points to max out that whole skill line - 2 skill points for each passive ability and 2 for every skill and their morph. Crafting skill lines usually require 23-27 skill points to be maxed out.

The maximum amount of skill points you will have to spend, should be 47. The absolute minimum you will gain are 10 skill points. So, in the worst case scenario you will require 37 more skill points to max out everything of the new skill lines.

Edit: the trial should also grant 1 skill point.

yes because despite the fact that PVP skill points take insane amount of time to grind even for someone who is a dedicated pvper, let alone a more casual and/or diverse content player - we are not allowed to express concern? DLC skill points are 100% required now? seriously.

Then count this comment as more than just hot air. And now? Does this make any difference in this debate?

It always amazes me how some people here put others down just because their needs don’t fall together with the issues of other peoples. Just for once, try to imagine that other people play this game differently than you do. Why oppose that? Especially if it doesn’t impact you negatively. (Generaly speaking, not directly about you xaraan)

Since we don’t know how many points become available with SS and how many points the new lines will consume, this is a legit concern.

My main is the one I do pve (dd & tank) and pvp (ma & ha,) with. I also do stealing and crafting with it. That means 3 class and 4 weapon lines just for some combinations in combative gameplay. On top of the guilds, world, racial and crafting lines.
Point is that being able to perform more than just one role on one chat will consume a lot more sp than you guys might think it does.

This is why I've made a dedicated crafting character (she has no combat skills at all, only crafting).

Because I don't care what anybody says, unless you're an elite player who can complete all content (and perhaps more importantly, you OWN all content) then you will never have enough skill points for both crafting and combat on one character.

So having one character just for crafting is the smartest decision I've ever made in ESO.

That is a complete and utter falsehood. I’m not an elite player. My main is also my master crafter, and I have more than enough skill points invested into the combat side of the game to complete vet hard mode content with her every time I play. I have 25 skill points that I have not spent yet. I only have all skyshards discovered in AD and EP — I’ve barely touched DC and Cyrodiil on my main. I also only have 100% quest completion in AD and EP. I haven’t even started the TG or DB quest lines yet, or completed Morrowind. I’m also only Alliance rank 7 on my main (which can be gained over two evenings of zerging), so none of this “you need to grind to 50” BS. Sure, I’ve completed all 4-man dungeons in the game and have the associated skill points, but that is an attainable goal for ANY player.

Again, I’m not opposed to more options for skill points in Summerset, but some of you are REALLY exaggerating.

Should have more than enough skill points for the new skill lines. I have 52 points to use on my main, who is also my crafter. And I also heal, tank and DPS on that one too by switching gear and skills around.

Ive done less than 20 hours of PVP, only got about 4 skyshards in Cyrodil, havent completed all dungeons on vet let alone normal, zero skyshards from Craglorn, yet i still have 9 extra skill points on my main that is a master crafter.

The whole conversation can be reduced to ONE very simple question : does Summerset come with enough new skill points to cover the two new skill lines entirely ?

This question has two possible very precise answers : YES or NO.

@ZOS_Holden , @ZOS_Chris , (and sorry I don't remember the id of the 3rd community rep), would you please care to get this answer for us ?
    Thank you.

Summerset is going to push the total skill points in the game to over 400.

You should not have any issues, @Troneon, if you're diligent between now and the May 21st patch drop.

You would be surprised at some of the various builds some of us have. Where we can switch up skills on the fly as need be. Trust me when I say that going through that much skill points can be easy if you know specifically what abilities and passives you absolutely want/need and even picking yourself as a crafter. It is quite skill taxing.

Chances are no. Which would be totally fine.
But I guess we can just wait until the chapter releases.

My guess is, there will be. Simply because ZOS claimed that newcomers could start and play the game in Summerset, which means they have to get enough skill points there, and also because the current maximum skill points available relies on many DLC content which people will not necessarily have access to. As a result, in order for Summerset to be played as a standalone version of ESO, there must be enough skill points available there.

I don't see why we would have to wait for release to get that info. It's a legit and fair question, and the answer won't spoil anything for anyone.

I don't play content with my main crafter any more. It was just unfortunate that I dumped most of the motifs on the character I would eventually neglect. Skill points is an issue, tbh. But there are some ways to circumvent it. For example, respec your redundant research passive. For PC players with resource nodes mapping addons, you don't need to put points in keen eye, elect another Stam toon with crazy regent and Sprint speed to farm resource nodes. Have another character with maxed out extraction passives to refine your raw materials.

Im nearly not finished with PVP (22). There are some Dungeons I haven't done. I have all the Skyshards and done 98% of all the quests. I spent many skill point in WW altough im a vampire now.

I maxed nearly all the class active abilities and all passives ones. I maxed every guild passives, and some actives. I have 2 weapons maxed, and all crafting ones (except research because I finished everything and keen eye for balcksmith, woodwork, and runes (I see them from a mile with grass on)).

Also PVP passives and some actives, and ofcourse racial passives and all the armors (except actives). I still have around 15 unused ones .Within 3-4 hours completing the remaining Dungeons and Trials I would have an extra 9.

Yeah it took some time but Skill points shouldn't be something which given so easely would lost its value at endgame. So do the dungeons(they are interesting) and quests(they are mostly well written I encourage you to read them) play some PVP(the first 15 level is so fast) and catch all Skyshards (they are a very good encouragement to explore this beautiful game) and you will be rewarded with a character that can craft and also will be viable at endgame PVP and PVE.

I started to feel that my unspent skillpoints would lost their value totally (I have 17 skill points in WW but now maybe I will have a motivation to free them).

From the news article on JC comes that there are only 5 tiers for jewels, which will lessen the need a bit, very well. I'm still curious what the Psijic line has to offer, especially the passives. 12 sp for skills + ulti and at least 10 more for passives (if we need them all). Curious if the passives come in 2 tier or 3 tier.

Lol at people telling this person what they’ll have enough of. How do you know his personal build to where he allocates skill points?

Ive collected all skyshards and skill points in game via quests and cyrodil. I main a stamdk with dw/bow and specced into a sword and board for pvp/tanking. I do not have all world skill lines levelled up, but I do have all crafting lines and build passives with a total of maybe 10 points left over.

10 points is not enough to max out a new crafting line, as well as skill line. Don’t assume things you don’t know...

There are almost 400 skill points available in game, and only 50 of those are locked behind AR progression. The game got new content for almost 2 years, without any skill line addition. The last one was Dark Brotherhood, and since then we got Shadows of the Hist (2), Morrowind (11), Horns of the Reach (2), Clockwork City (10) and Dragon Bones (2). So a total of 27 skill points that had no new skill line to spend on. If Summerset is about the same effective size as Orsinium and Vvardenfell, you can expect about 18 skyshards (6 skill points), 2 public dungeons with each event giving one and another 3-4 coming from various quest lines, so another 11-12 in total.

Looking at the other crafting skill lines I reckon Jewelry crafting will take between 15-20 skill points to completely fill it, but considering many of the current craft skill line passives are completely redundant (ex. snake blood), we can expect even less to be needed in practice. So you will most likely be able to use the skill points found in Summerset itself to fully spec that skill line. In practice if you have a well traveled character, you will probably already have 20-30 unused skill points anyway, without sacrificing any combat effectiveness.

For example I have 5 characters with between 358-367 skill points and 4 of those are currently researching, yet they have enough skill points to even spec into nearly useless stuff like barely used skills and even hirelings (those suck big time). Incidentally 3 of them will finish research in late May and early June, right at Summerset launch so I can proceed to research all 9 traits in short order, than cross-research :)

There are more then enough skill points in the game. My main has all his combat skills and even some he doesn't use ( a lot) and has all crafting skills. Sure the is more then enough to put in for jewelcrafting and the new pjigic or something skill line.

And the new area will surely give new points due to skyshards and quests also.
