What is the benefit of Imperial ?

BrunoBibou
I started to play yesterday. I downloaded the Imperial version and got my bonuses, my horse. As I have downloaded my game, I have no explantion, user's guide what so ever.
I was asked if wanted to upgrade my weapon to the Imperial. The games says that in that case, it will be linked to me and cannot be used by another player. but what is the benefit of changing an object (weapon, armor..) to Imperial.
Please help me before I go more deeper in the game.
Thanks,
Bruno

What it means is that you will be upgrading the item to the Imperial Style. This is simply an appearance change, it has no other benefits aside looking awesome and Imperial

Normally to have imperial weapons/armor you have to craft it with said appearance, using the proper racial resource. You get to transmute any armor/weapons into imperial appearance without any crafting or resource usage.

Thank you very much. More globally it means that Imperial does not bring any extra stuff to the character ? Or just a better look ?
    Thanks,

It also gives you the ability to purchase the Imperial Horse Mount for only 1 gold.

I just got the horse, thanks. I also have the maps, I will try to figure *** they work.
As for the race, I have chosen to be a Khajiit, Have I made a mistake by not using my Imperial race ??? I will look right away if I can change race (which I believe is impossible) or go a bank, lock my stuff, delete the character and create a new one.

You absolutely haven't done anything wrong by picking Khajiit - Imperial is an *exclusive* option, not a superior option. The race is a solid option for a tank (alongside several other races), but otherwise rather unspectacular.

Changing an item to the Imperial style is a cosmetic change only. It has the same statistics as before and gives it a better look to match your Imperial character.

    Many thanks Dumbo.
In fact I am not interested playing a tank or a fighter. I like to be able to juggle with magic, heal...
So I you recommend I keep my current character ?
    Thanks,

Changing an item to the Imperial style is a cosmetic change only. It has the same statistics as before and gives it a better look to match your Imperial character.

While it is a cosmetic change, there is another benefit besides looks. When you change an item to the imperial style you make it possible to get Nickel when it is deconstructed. Without doing this you will find it very difficult to acquire nickel in game.
