My internet connection is fine but I'm finding a more than noticable delay between abilities, mob damage etc.

Disodium✭Due to geological locations of the server(s), this is something us Aussies have to put up with.
With no Oceanic servers you can expect lag in this and any other game you play where you are required to play on servers not in our region.
There is nothing that can be done unless they setup an Oceanic server(unlikely).
So unfortunately we just need to use a little more predictive skill then our opponents
