I don't find it ridiculous, the armor part. I do find it illogical for us to hold a big-ass mace and magically make it look like a dagger. That part I don't agree with.It is flawed (taking a simple hide helmet feature and changing it in a way to encourage people to buy more outfit slots) but beyond that it works fine and doesn't introduce any new issues- seeing as you can already use costumes in PVP.
Wait does this mean if we want to hide the helmet on a regular costume, we have to completely give up the new Outfit slot just to create one with hidden helmet? I thought hiding helmet would be possible at any time but would no longer be done through the use of the setting, instead needing a station to change that.

My only concerns are the gold costs for outfits. It would also be nice to hide certain slots too, like shoulders.

There are two ways to hide helmet. One is using the outfit system via the Hide Helmet outfit style (which only hides gear.) The other is using the Hide Your Helm hat collectible, which can be used anytime anywhere via the Hat section of collections, and will hide the headwear part of a costume, as well as any helmet style in your outfit and your equipped helmet.
The Hide Your Helm is the true replacement of the setting. The Hide Helmet outfit style is an extra feature.
How about we lower the cost in the first place. Then, how about the ability for crafters to create "outfit stamps?" Basically, they make you an outfit template, sell it to you, then you can use it to stamp your outfit? This gives crafters a way to make money back for their investment, and other folks a way to get styles on their gear that they have neither the time nor money to farm.

I'm only asking this because of the new guide the posted. So you can make your swords look like axes and your light armor look like heavy. This is going to be cool for PvE and just for showing off how great you look but in PvP this is very bad if you ask me, everyone will be wearing heavy armor (or so they look) except for tanks probably who are going to be naked (or so they look). You won't even know what you're fighting anymore until they pop some skill, does that guy have axes? Swords? Daggers? Two staffs? 3 bows? Questions.
Also what can the staff be replaced with? Or the bow?
You could wear a rag and look like a top level player in dungeons, that's cool.
I know that there are costumes but it's one thing to wear a costume and another to wear two axes when they are daggers, ridiculous.

woe wait ...
if i choose hide my gear i can look naked? in just me shorts?
WOOOHOO I HOPE SO!
MAN I HOPE I CAN BE NAKEE IN MY ARMOR!
I LOVE THIS!
i hope i am understanding correctly!
This add that they are probably using costumes anyway, bath towel, tree climber or weeding dress for tanky builds. If you're a normal PvPer then you'd understand what armor they're using based off of health and abilities used.
Example if I see a player with 30k Health they're most likely rocking 5 piece heavy.
If I see a player using shuffle well they're using medium armor (5 or more).
If I see a player using immovable well they're using Heavy armor (5 or more).
If I see someone using annulment well they're using Light armor (5 or more).
The only issue would not being able to outright see what monster set they're using but that too is also a stupid remark as you can already hide it + you can tell as soon as it procs.

horrible thread this is.
IMO you shouldn't be able to determine your opponent's strengths, weaknesses, gear and skills before engaging them. All this does is allow people to select the weaker targets that they know they can dominate...From a PVP point of view.
