Wait - have they just monetised Hide Helmet?!?

For the benefit of us poor PTSless console players please confirm how this will work

From the notes, it reads to me that it will be an outfit style, so you'll have to apply it to the head slot to hide your helmet, like any other style.

I'm guessing that will be free (using the same logic as imperial and morag tong styles being free for people who could change to those anyway) but does that mean you'll have to pay every time you want to swap from hiding to showing and apply the motif again each time?

Also, if hide helmet is now going to be part of the outfit system does that mean we'll no longer be able to hide headgear on costumes? Seeing as costumes will override outfits?

Please someone tell me I'm worrying over nothing!

you can wear a Helmet and a hat and a POLYMORPH and still hide helmet - I would not have a heart attack yet.

Yes, lots of costumes I would not use with helmet.

It's not currently possible to test exactly how it works because the bug stops you using that option - it says you have not collected that style yet.

But in the outfit UI it's in a separate category - at the top along with 'clear this slot' (which reverts back to showing whatever you're actually wearing) - rather than in with the styles you have to pay to apply. And when you preview it the cost stays at 0g, whereas if I remember correctly previewing locked styles shows what it would cost to apply them.

So it looks like it is intended to be free and available for everyone, but it's not working right now because the game thinks no one has collected that style and since there's no way to collect it we can't use it.

The hide helmet option on the PTS is in your collections under "Hats", and is also available in the outfit system. Personally, I like it there, because it's now more consistent.

It's just bugged right now, and the devs have acknowledged it. Relax. After all, it is the PTS.

I think hide helmet option is also in the collection menu as well under the hats selection.

While I like this update very much, hide helmet changes have to be the worst of it. I hope they revert that and leave the hide helm feature in Settings menu as it's a lot more convenient.

There's was an issue with outfit system that has be resloved, but it's been said to be or will be fixed for upcoming pts patch.

Thank you, good the know it will be free to apply, but still sounds like you'll pay to switch to an outfit head and need to be in a city for it

I understand that it might be a bug, i tried to set my helmet to hidden and the accept button grayed at that moment.
I don't think that the player should go to a city, and tinker with a system that was designed to change the appearance of the armor in order to set the helmet off, if ZOS want it to be part as the UI they should add it as part of the helmet menu or keep it as part of the options, the system they are trying to implement looks bad.

So I guess there's no way of knowing if you can switch from hiding back to a previously applied (and paid for!) outfit helmet for free if you can't hide it in the first place!

Awesome, thank you that was exactly what I wanted to know! So if you know you're never going to want a helmet you can set it as part of an outfit or toggle it on and off on the fly with the costume version

And some people pointed out that it was in the patch notes and these threads still continued. I'm glad they did though, Gina's tin foil hat comeback literally made me laugh out loud.

I can't remove the tin foil hat. I've tried, but the option to hide it doesn't seem to be working

As I mentioned in my original post, I'm on console - I almost never visit the PTS forum, I just wanted to see how the outfit system would work enough to have a peak. I read the section on it and had a question about how it would work, couldn't find the answer and didn't know where else to look so I asked. Because I've got no way of checking for myself.

I thought that was the point of the forum.

I didn't ask if it was working because it doesn't matter to me one way or the other, seeing as I'm on console so can't go on PTS. I never asked if it was bugged. Even if I'd read that it was bugged and not working, I would still have liked to know how it was supposed to work (as I'm on console and can't check for myself), so I'm not sure what would have been gained by me reading that it's bugged.

It's obviously working well enough for my original questions to be answered, because they have been. Eventually. With knowledge that you could only get from trying it out on PTS. Which I couldn't do because I'm on console.

My main character is wearing the goblin morph gem 24/7. I even re named him to match the part. I can't stand the helmet on him, so I hide it.

I swear to god, if I can't hide it anymore.....

Eeyyy nvm. Just saw Ginas comment. So it's not actually going anywhere like op was saying. That's a relief.
